**Responsibilities**:

- Edit, update and maintain Forestry Geo-spatial information including: parks tree forestry, Emerald Ash Borer, forest plot center, forest stand, woodlots, engineered soils and any other forestry related GIS layers.
- Edit, update, and maintain CityWorks data for Forestry’s operating and capital projects.
- Perform geo-analytics for forestry project planning and monitoring.
- Create CityWorks work orders for all Forestry Capital Projects
- Maintenance of Cloud Computing Technology, including: Operations Dashboards, Story Maps, and Forestry Web Portal, Forestry Emergency and Field maps.
- Provide first contact resolution to forestry staff issues that are related to asset management or GIS related technology
- Analyzing and interpretation of forestry database to design appropriate classification criteria to create customized maps.
- Field inspection and validating forestry data, develop and implement corrective action plans to address issues and problems, maintain control of data, reports and forms.
- Coordinate, create and maintain records of different forestry projects
- Generate atlas for projects and presentations using available dataset Corporate geo-database query for different purposes.
- Train forestry staff and students in the use of CityWorks for reporting, management of forestry assets and work order processing, inventory, gathering tools and equipment, web GIS and GPS technology..
- Perform quality assurance and quality control of forestry’s related data entered via web GIS.
- Gather and update dendrometric information among Town of Oakville streets and Parks trees and Woodlands on a Geographic Information System platform.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**:

- A university degree in Forestry from a recognized institution. Training or experience in Geographic Information System would be considered an asset. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Must be an ISA certified Arborist.
- 3-5 years of related experience with updating and maintaining forest stand information in our geo-database, forestry information analyst, needs to have a thorough understanding of the impact of forest harvesting on the structure, function and condition of forest stands, different methods of forest mensuration and inventory, silviculture and silvics, the dynamic of forest stands and forest management.
- Experience in forestry engineering, geographic information systems, geo-analytics, and environmental awareness.
- Experience in tree identification, Forestry data management, Forestry data analysis, data visualization, spatial reference, geoprocessing, GIS, CityWorks, MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint is essential. Must be computer / tech savvy.
- Must have strong problem solving, public relations and project / strategic planning skills.
- Strong understanding of the Highway Traffic Act and knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act is required,
