**About Our Opportunity**:
Reporting to the Manager, Income Assistance, the Research and Statistical Officer 3 (RSO3) will conduct research and analysis, and coordinates program evaluation that will drive the development of program policies to be responsive to the needs of Nova Scotians receiving supports under the Income Assistance program.
**Primary Accountabilities**:
Using your understanding and experience in quantitative and qualitative research methods, a few of your key responsibilities will include:
- Conducting thorough research and analysis
- Participating in the development of policy standards and the formulation of new and on-going initiatives informed by legislation, regulations, and established policies
- Conducting jurisdictional research and environmental scans to inform on program and policy development and new opportunities
- Coordinating and collaborating with various staff and stakeholders to meet and measure program outcomes, business cases, presentations, decision requests and information notes
- Analyzing statistical information and reports to ensure the effective and appropriate implementation of the Employment Support and Income Assistance (ESIA) policy and regulations
- Preparing and providing information through briefing notes, information notes, and ministerial letters.

**Qualifications and Experience**:
We are looking for a highly engaged person who enjoys brainstorming and problem solving. In addition to this, you have a bachelor’s degree and five (5) years related experience; or a Master’s degree and three (3) years related experience.
You must be able to work and participate as a member of a multi-disciplinary team. This role also requires ability to work independently with mínimal supervision, be self-motivated, and able to follow-up pro-actively and address issues as they arise. You must have excellent written and oral communications skills and presentation skills along with excellent interpersonal, organizational, and project management skills.
We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.
**Equivalency**:
We recognize equivalent combinations of training, education, and experience, providing opportunities for individuals with diverse backgrounds to contribute their skills and expertise. Equivalencies include, but are not limited to:
- A diploma and seven (7) years experience
- Nine (9) years related experience

**Working Conditions**:
