**Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Manager of Research Methods Unit, the Research Assistant is responsible for supporting a qualitative research study exploring retention and recruitment in clinical trials being conducted at Nova Scotia Health, QEII.
The Research Assistant contributes to the study by actively participating in the data collection and analysis as well as providing general administrative support (e.g., maintenance of study data and documentation).
The Research Assistant is responsible for:
- Coordination of research study (including data management, recruitment, consent, transcription, etc...)
- Ethnographic field observations & writing field notes
- Team and individual data analysis, using data analysis software (AtlasTI)
- Processes and submits forms to Research Ethics Board (REB)
- Recruitment and consenting participants
- Administers, scores and records results for study tests (e.g. questionnaires)
- Replies to routine correspondence and composes and edits letters, documents and general memoranda
- Orders, maintains and monitors offices supplies
- Attends, records and distributes minutes for meetings
- Faxes, photocopies, books rooms, catering and meetings and other related clerical functions
- Coordinates incoming and outgoing mail and arranges for courier services
- Processes invoices and financial payments
- Acquires signatures for study related documents
- Interdepartmental and clinic mail runs
- Collects, enters and maintains data related to study
- Files study documents, test results, etc
- Develops and maintains methods of tracking information through checklists, databases and spreadsheets
- Enters, summarizes and analyses data using study documentation, databases and/or spreadsheets
- Supports team and individual data analysis, using data qualitative analysis software
- Contributes to writing aspects of the report
- Archives documentation related to study once it has closed and develops and maintains a method of retrieval from storage
**Qualifications**:
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Bachelor or post-secondary degree in a relevant discipline (Qualitative Research, etc.) required
- Two years’ research related experience preferred
- Knowledge of qualitative research design and methodology
- Experience in qualitative research collection and analysis and is motivated to learn ethnographic methods of thinking and doing research (we will provide training on ethnographic data collection and analysis).
- CCRP (Certified Clinical Research Professional) or CCRA (Certified Clinical Research Associate) an asset
- Proficiency in use of qualitative analysis software (e.g., NVIVO, ATLASTi) an asset
- Demonstrated competencies in computer skills, including databases.
- Effective interpersonal, communication and teaching skills
- Demonstrated time management and organizational skills
- Effective research and analytical thinking skills
- Strong negotiation, conflict resolution and rapport-building skills
- Ability to work well independently as well as within a multidisciplinary team environment
