**Job Summary**
- The Department of Emergency Medicine is a key contributor to Dalhousie Medical School’s education, patient care and research activities. We are pleased to partner with Dalhousie Emergency Medicine in search of a Manager, Finance and Administration to join their team. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Manager, Finance and Administration is a key position in supporting the financial health and stewardship of the academic department and the COO on issues related to financial performance.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Financial administrations of the department’s university budgets including operating, contract, special purpose and endowed accounts for the Department of Emergency Medicine.
- Manage all financial accounts related to residency training sites within the department. Advise on budgets, develop year-end projections and reports for government.
- Manage NS Department of Health and Wellness Academic Funding Plan (AFP) monies, practice plan monies, and produce analyses and reports as required.
- Prepare and oversee ad hoc financial analyses and reporting, inclusive of complex and sensitive issues and financial requirements, using innovative approaches to problem solving.
- Support the management of AFP through financial and operational data and reports. Write proposals, summarize pertinent information and present findings to Department committees and stakeholders as required.
- Provide some administration and human resource oversight of staff at the discretion of the COO.

**Note**
- The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.

**Required Qualifications**
- Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance or business administration, with a minimum of five years’ financial administration and management experience preferably in an academic health care and/or not-for-profit environment (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Complete or in progress CPA designation.
- Must maintain current knowledge of university financial and HR policies and procedures as well as accounting standards.
- Extensive knowledge and use of Excel and financial systems (Sage 50, Banner, SAP preferred).
- Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision and direction.
- Experience in database systems, information management and reporting.
