**About the role**:
The Training Manager at Stelco will be responsible for overseeing the compulsory training programs with a focus on safety for both the Hamilton and Lake Erie locations. This role involves ensuring compliance with legislative requirements, developing strategic training plans, managing day-to-day training activities, and supporting employee development programs. The Training Manager will work collaboratively with operational departments, the Safety team and key stakeholders to ensure the effective execution of compulsory training programs.
**Your day-to-day**:
- Ensure current training programs meet all legislative requirements and ongoing training requirements are kept current.
- Oversee the execution of all compulsory safety training programs and work with operational departments to meet scheduling requirements.
- Provide analysis and recommendations to senior leadership on annual training requirements.
- Develop and implement a strategic training plan.
- Manage day-to-day training activities and standards for Stelco personnel, working collaboratively with operational departments and key stakeholders.
- Support employee development through training initiatives and work with the Talent & Organizational Development team to ensure that employees are provided the opportunity to attend regularly scheduled training sessions.
- Manage mandatory training programs and implement a process to ensure that all employees attend mandatory programs.
- Document training needs and implement a process for establishing and maintaining training programs.
- Ensure the integrity of a training document control process in conjunction with the HRIS (Workday) training module.
- Provide reports on completed training sessions (demographics, success rates, employee feedback, etc.).
- Ensure a feedback and follow-up system is in place to measure the effectiveness of training programs and address areas where inefficiencies are found.
- Review curriculums on an ongoing basis and use gap analysis to determine areas where new or improved training techniques are required, keeping in mind current legislation and proposed changes to legislation.
- Research and investigate new or updated industrial training methods.
- Submit an annual budget to HR senior leadership for review and work within the limits of the approved budget.
- Take advantage of funding opportunities whenever possible and actively look for new funding options.
**What you bring to the table-**
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a training and development role, preferably in an industrial environment.
- Strong knowledge of training best practices, legislative requirements, and safety training program development.
- Experience in operations or safety is an asset.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Proficient in MS Office and HR systems. Experience with Workday is an asset.
- Position will be supporting both Hamilton Works and Lake Erie Works requiring regular travel as needed to perform onsite duties at both locations.
