The Opportunity:
The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the payroll system including adherence to regulatory compliance.

What you’ll be doing everyday:
- Responsible for timely preparation, distribution, analysis, and reconciliation of the organizations’ payroll function and related reports including the proper administration, calculation, and remittance of all deductions, disbursements, and payments and ROE’s.-
- Provides guidance on payroll related matters to employees and acts as point of escalation for payroll inquiries and concerns- Drives process improvements, and actively seeks opportunities to improve Payroll systems, service, communication, and collaboration with critical departments- Maintain key internal and external relationships to support payroll operations (vendors, legal, benefits providers, etc.)- Responsible preparing payroll month end for accounting team and year-end reports, fiscal year-end reconciliations and required reports for applicable third parties and external auditors- Provides expertise and critical insights into payroll related matters, impact of policy changes, and changes in the legislative environments- Responsible for year-end future benefit analysis and accruals

What you bring to the table:
- Bachelor or Associate degree in Business or Accounting required- Certification from the Canadian Payroll Association (CPA) is preferred.- Minimum of 4 years of related experience with proven capacity within a payroll- Experience on Workday or other major payroll software is preferred- In-depth and up-to-date knowledge of: Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) regulations, Employment Standards, Income Tax, Canada Pension and Employment Insurance.- Exposure to US payroll would be nice to have.- Analytical skills, including financial analysis; experience reconciling accounts, proficiency with Excel and payroll softwares.
