**Job Summary**
- Student Affairs is a collection of integrated units that collaborate with faculty, staff and students to enhance the student experience. We promote an inclusive, holistic and student-centric approach to learning and academic success and act as a professional resource in the delivery of evidence-based student enrolment, wellness, development and academic support programs and services. Reporting to the Assistant Vice-Provost, Campus Living and Student Well-being, this position plays a lead role in supporting positive student engagement and community building as well as addressing emerging issues that impact residence students on the Halifax campuses.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Accountable for all aspects of Residence Life on the Halifax campuses including the Residence Community Living Guide, in consultation with Ancillary Services for the Truro Campus.
- Develops and implements strategic, operational and project plans focused on the delivery of inclusive and innovative programming and services. Oversees the development and rollout of evidence-informed programs which build positive community climate and culture.
- Provides oversight of Residence Conduct processes which align with a restorative approach and student development theory. Provide students with an opportunity to learn, grow and engage constructively throughout the process.
- Responsible to ensure 24/7 operations in Residence are appropriately and comprehensively supported through coordinated on call framework of Residence Life Staff and Student Leaders in collaboration with integrated team partners, Security Services and Ancillary Services
- Responsible for all aspect of financial management for the Residence Life operating budget, including budget development, budget cuts, quarterly reporting, variance reporting, signing authority, year-end processes, strategic initiative requests, non-space and alternations and renovation requests, etc.
- Accountable for all aspects of management for a staff of seven, who oversee team of 100 student leaders in residence.
**Note**
Due to operational requirements, the successful applicant is required to work in-person on campus.
**Required Qualifications**
- Master’s degree in relevant field such as student affairs, social work, health & wellness, plus a minimum of five years’ related experience (or equivalent combination of training and experience).
- Experience in building capacity and fostering individual, team and organizational development is required. Proven ability to build and support high-performing teams is key to this role.Proven ability to build relationships and collaborate as a partner in a high-functioning integrated team across business units.
- Demonstrated ability to think and act strategically. Includes thinking conceptually about the “big picture” and in which direction the organization is/should be headed, demonstrated ability to develop long-term plans to achieve desired outcomes and linking daily work to long-term vision.
- Demonstrated ability to manage accountability for performance and results. Includes taking ownership and accountability for delivering the right results in the right way and improving individual, team and organizational contribution.
- Proven leadership competence in equity, diversity and inclusion.
- Experienced leader in managing change and innovation. Includes proven ability to lead change and improvement to move the university ahead and enhance organizational results.
