The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (Elections Ontario) is an independent, non-partisan office of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, responsible for administering provincial elections, by-elections, and referenda in Ontario. The Executive Office division of Elections Ontario seeks a well-organized individual with a background in public administration, political science, or the equivalent, to assist the Executive Office and Corporate Affairs team with a variety of policy research and initiatives, within our Scarborough location.

**What to expect in this role**

Under the general direction of the Senior Policy Advisor, you will:

- Develop an inventory and filing system for existing paper-based records in EO’s library and Executive Office with a view to organizing, maintaining and/or disposing of records in accordance with corporate policies and records management standards.
- Liaise with external vendor to digitize records, which will involve mínimal time working offsite at the library and/or at the vendor location.
- Provide a variety of administrative and clerical services, including the preparation of meeting agendas, as well as the taking of meeting minutes and records of discussion.
- Conduct research, analyze, and synthesize literature, interpret data, and identify systemic issues.
- Contribute to the development of correspondence, presentations, reports, expense documentation, and other deliverables.
- Provide reception coverage on a rotational schedule.
- Complete other duties as assigned.

**What you need to qualify**
- Must be enrolled in an accredited post-secondary program and must be returning to school in the Fall of 2023.
- Strong analytical skills with experience conducting research and analysis to provide recommendations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
- Political acuity and knowledge of Ontario’s public landscape is an asset.
- Ability to learn quickly, problem solve, juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, and work with limited supervision.
- Excellent collaboration skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Tact and diplomacy, particularly in a politically-sensitive environment.
- Highly proficient with MS Office Suite of products including MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel and SharePoint.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
