**Permanent Supportive Housing Case Worker
Base Annual Salary: $51,903 (overnight premium for over night shifts, not included in salary)

**Position Summary**:
Alpha House is truly a “Housing First” and “Harm Reduction” organization. We believe that housing is a human right, and that our clients deserve to have their basic needs such as food, shelter and safety met. To accomplish this, Alpha House has seven buildings where we house between 15 and 32 individuals who are in active addiction, in bachelor suites or one bedroom apartments. These buildings are staffed 24/7 by staff who work as a team to case manage our clients (who are in active addiction) with daily living skills, follow up and follow through of medical and or legal appointments, budgeting and harm reduction strategies.

**Expectations**:

- Available for shift work 12 hour shifts which includes, days or over-nights and holidays, ( 3 on and 3 off rotation)
- Strong interpersonal communication and crisis management skills
- Able to work in a team environment, as well as take initiative
- An understanding of and belief in Harm Reduction

**Responsibilities**:

- Create client-centered case plans and support client in reaching achievable and realistic goals
- Prepare reports, keep up to date case notes and conduct regular assessments
- Provided necessary support for client to maintain housing
- Manage client crises and create safety plans
- Demonstrate ethically responsible practice with staff and clients alike
- Advocate for and transports clients when appropriate
- Foster and maintain excellent relationships with health professionals who are involved with providing for clients’ needs
- Assist in maintaining cleanliness of the building, including regular room inspections and room cleaning support as required
- Assist with guest management and tenant relations as needed
- Adhering to building safety protocols and codes
- Assist with moderate to heavy lifting (e.g. move-ins, lifting mobility aids, assisting clients with mobility issues)

**Qualifications**:

- A Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Social Work or a related social service field from a Public Post-Secondary Institution, or working towards one
- An understanding of addictions, mental health, harm reduction, trauma informed care and the stages of change
- Experience in addictions, crisis assessment and intervention
- Strong advocacy skills
- Knowledge of community and referral resources
- An understanding of and appreciation for indigenous individuals
- Lived or work experience with homelessness and or addictions

**Requirements**:

- Class 5 (non GDL) license
- ( Proof of Driver license is required at the time interview)
- FOIP Certificate (a link to obtain this can be sent after the interview)
- Vulnerable Sector check
- Valid within the last 6 months
