**Please Note: This competition is limited to current salaried NAIT staff.**

This role is responsible for the back of house operations, which includes Web & Mail and the warehouse operations. Through a Team Lead and direct supervision this position is responsible for the day to day functions/logistics of three distinct areas and a total of 4 direct and up to 12 indirect subordinates.

They also identify staffing requirements to meet variable demand; create budgets and account for variances in budget to staff and inventory costs; manage staff performance; promote and engage staff; ensure inbound and outbound shipments are processed with established time frames as well as support the development and maintenance of business processes and procedures.

In addition, the Assistant Manager, Operations is leading the digital integration support team that helps students struggling to download digital material during intake periods.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Support the alignment of Retail Services strategic goals with NAIT's business plan
- Ensure work plans align with business plan for the area; and that service demands are met
- Responsible for the development of unit
- specific goals and budget decisions
- Coordinate communication from the front of the house and the buying group to ensure that inventory is delivered on time
- Accountable for the flow of inventory into and out of the store as well as inventory adjustment dollars
- Develop labor budgets and expenses related to operational costs such as the cost of packaging, inventory adjustment costs, freight charges and delivery service fees
- Review and approve invoices related to these expenditures
- Identify potential discrepancies that need clarification and problem solve
- Work with Managers to understand immediate and long term goals or projects and establish timelines for completion
- Responsible for the maintenance of all the equipment in the warehouse which consists of materials handling equipment, pallet jack, platform trucks and dollies as well as a shrink wrap machine and POS machines
- Assists with trouble shooting issues on equipment
- Ensure processes and procedures are maintained and budget targets are met or exceeded
- Responsible for helping employees with professional development and growth of subordinates
- Coaching unwanted behavior and if necessary discipline

**Skills & Abilities**:

- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted

- Familiar with Labor Standards (Federal and Provincial), Occupational Health & Safety Legislation, Excise Tax Legislation (GST), PCI compliance guidelines, Retail Consumer Legislation, Transportation Legislation for Dangerous Goods, Canada Post Corporation Act-rules and regulations and Tariff and Customs Guidelines

**Qualifications**:

- Post Secondary Diploma/Degree is considered an asset
- Minimum of 5 yrs relevant experience
- Minimum of 2 yrs supervisory experience

Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).

**Remuneration**: $68,058.90 - $90,169.56 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
