**Events Coordinator**

The **Centre for Newcomers** is an Alberta leader in providing settlement, language training and employment readiness services to immigrants. Our mission is to achieve the integration of newcomers in the community, through services and initiatives that promote diversity, participation and citizenship. As a charitable society and non-profit corporation, we make a positive difference in the lives of all Calgarians.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Attend in-person and virtual client meetings as required.
- Attend site visits.
- Prepare event files for each event.
- Take notes at all meetings and update files accordingly.
- Assist with vendor sourcing and negotiations.
- Help to create and revise room layouts for each event.
- Serve as liaison with vendors on event-related matters.
- Assist with coordinating on-site production of events as necessary including coordinating vendors and supervising on-site volunteers.
- Assist with virtual and hybrid events as needed.
- Prepare forms, schedules, materials, packages, registration lists, etc. as needed.
- Organize regular events, site visits, conversation café, basic skills development trainings, online information sessions for refugees and other newcomers.
- Maintain up-to-date and relevant community resources.
- Represent CFN in community engagement activities that support newcomer integration.
- Conduct various administration tasks for program activities.
- Assist in canvasing donations and perform outreach activities at events.
- Prepare and submit activity reports on each activity/project.
- facilitate public education/discussion and awareness events on settlement issues and provides support to communities.
- Some travel may be required.

**Event Administration**:

- Assist with ongoing management of event budgets.
- Coordinate appointments and scheduling of events on the calendar.
- Act as the point of contact for smaller events as needed.
- Liaise with other events staff and programs such as Ethnicity Catering.

**Requirements**:

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrates a focus on finishing all tasks assigned in a timely manner; experience working with high need immigrants; excellent organizational, analytical and planning skills.
- Proactive and action oriented with attention to detail and multitasking skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, collaborative and customer service skills.
- Food and beverage knowledge preferred.
- Class 5 license and reliable transportation required.
- Available to work evenings and weekends.

**Job Types**: Fixed term contract, Part-time
Contract length: 7 months
Part-time hours: 18.75 per week
