**Reporting to**:Marketing and Communications Senior Director
**Job Summary**:
The Digital Marketing and Communications Team Lead works with the marketing and communications team and other UWWRC team members when required and contributes to the long-term success of the organization by creating branded marketing materials including online, digital and print advertising, graphics, video assets and other digital and design projects as assigned. The Digital Marketing and Communications Team Lead also guides the social media strategy, website continuity and updates, supports events, and provides data and analysis for all digital properties, platforms, and initiatives. The Digital Marketing and Communications Team Lead develops and executes an effective social media and marketing strategy that aligns with the overall Marketing and Communications Strategic Plan. This position is also responsible for the training and guidance of all staff, volunteers and students for all platforms and processes required for marketing and communications products, initiatives, and events. This position will also provide on-going training and guidance to all volunteers and students in their respective roles within the Marketing and Communications Department and other UWWRC team members when required.
**Responsibilities**:
The position works with marketing, senior management and other departments, to create innovative materials, impactful communications, social media posts, and other written or digital content. This position is responsible for all design, graphics and illustrations to support all required products and projects. This position executes the social media strategy; provides input into the development and creation of United Way materials, releases, mailings, blogs, social media posts, articles and other such publications and documents as may be required. Required to create website content, layout and design, ensure website content is timely and relevant as well as develop specific online areas to support various initiatives. Also required to develop, curate and implement United Way app material. As one of the ‘voices’ of United Way, the position understands and can communicate the organization’s value proposition to specific audiences as well as the community.
Marketing and Communications Strategy
- In accordance with plans developed by senior management/department directors, assist in implementation and execution of the annual marketing and communications strategy
- Work with the Marketing and Communications Director and CEO to obtain and distill input from senior management, and other departments regarding communications messaging
- Work with the Marketing and Communications Director and CEO to determine goals and critical success factors
- Work in conjunction with the organizational mar/com budget
- Implement and execute the annual social media and digital strategy
Social Media:
- Manage day-to-day operation and monitoring of social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram and United Way app accounts
- Work with Director of Marketing and Communications and the Brand Manager to develop and implement a social media strategy in conjunction with editorial and communications plans
- Create content, including integrated multimedia marketing and communications assets (video, print, social media, graphics, presentations etc).
- Create social media best practices and guidelines for the organization, including social media toolkits as necessary
- Train staff on social media protocols and provide ongoing support
Website strategy and content:
- Work with the Marketing and Communications department to ensure content is updated as per established standards
- Create content where required
- Lead and execute all digital requirements for special projects and initiatives
- Support in the management of the website
- Make recommendations concerning website usage, design, functionality, potential content, and other considerations as they arise
Professional Development
- Remain current regarding new marketing strategies, software, social media trends, website design, event planning techniques, etc
- Look for efficiencies and recommending changes as necessary
Training and Management
- Train and update all staff, volunteers and students on all internal and external communications and marketing platforms, produces and initiatives when required.
- Provide on-going guidance to all volunteers and students placed within the MarCom department and other departments as required.
Teamwork
- Work with other departments to ensure alignment of marketing and events plans with organizational objectives
- Participate in team and organizational meetings and activities, and events
Innovation
- Make recommendations for new products, methodologies, processes, etc..
