Simcoe, Canada Tamminga Enterprises Inc. Full time

Tamminga Enterprises is currently looking for a Heavy Equipment Operator to join our excavating and site servicing construction crew. The Equipment Operator will be responsible for the safe operation of various heavy equipment and vehicles used in industrial/commercial excavation and site servicing construction projects. Year round employment is available. Our busy season typically runs from April 1st - November 1st.

The Heavy Equipment Operator will be responsible for excavating, grading, trenchwork and other tasks required to carry out excavation and site-servicing work on a variety of commercial/industrial projects.

**Position Duties and Responsibilities**
- Operation of heavy equipment on a regular basis including excavators, skid steers, dozers, front end loaders, road sweepers and other related equipment and attachments
- Operation of pickup trucks, dump trucks, and trailers
- General labour such as shoveling, raking, wheelbarrowing, and using various compaction equipment including diesel plate tampers
- Perform pre-operational circle checks on all machinery and equipment
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on machinery and equipment to ensure proper functioning
- Complete daily operating logs
- Read and interpret construction plans
- Maintain a safe and orderly working environment, ensuring all on-site activities are compliant with all applicable legislation, regulations, codes, and standards related to occupational health and environmental safety
- Enhance the safety culture among support staff by maintaining an active role in incident prevention and promoting health and safety practices
- Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently and effectively in a professional and courteous manner
- Perform other related duties as assigned

**Requirements and Qualifications**:

- Proficient knowledge and ability to safely operate various heavy equipment and machinery, including: excavators, skid steers, dozers, front end loaders, road sweepers and other related equipment and attachments
- Minimum 5 years of experience with operation of heavy equipment; 10 years preferred
- Valid A-Z license required
- Acceptable current Driver’s Abstract required
- Ability to understand and carry out written and verbal instructions
- Ability to communicate efficiently and act in a professional and courteous manner at all times with all company personnel and clients
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs

**Desired Skills and Attributes**:

- Working knowledge and proficiency to accurately read drawings and locates, and properly set grades
- Capable of independent and self-guided work with mínimal or no supervision
- Capable of working with cross-functional teams; excellent team player
- First Aid/CPR Certification an asset
