The mission of the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) is to foster and enhance best practices in teaching and learning at Western University. To achieve its mission, the Centre utilizes an evidence-based approach to create and deliver programs that support the teaching and learning activities of faculty members, librarians and archivists, post-doctoral fellows, and graduate students.

**Responsibilities**:
The eLearning and Curriculum Specialist is critical to the Centre for Teaching and Learning’s mandate of promoting innovation in technology-enabled learning and supporting departments and faculties in curriculum design and renewal. The Specialist advises on the incorporation of digital tools and pedagogy in all synchronous and asynchronous teaching modalities, from in-person to fully online, both in individual courses and across academic programs and units. The Specialist also researches and designs programs and services to support technology-enabled teaching excellence and to respond to new technologies and their impact on teaching and learning.

In addition, the Specialist supports departments in program-level curriculum review and renewal, including providing consultation during the design of program learning outcomes and assisting with program mapping, constructive alignment, and continuous improvement both generally and in relation to key strategic initiatives such as EDI-DI, Accessibility, and technology-enabled learning. The Specialist also provides leadership, training, and one-on-one design support for departments and faculty in their efforts to enhance teaching and learning.

**Qualifications**:

- Education:
- Master’s degree in in educational technology, curriculum development, education, instructional design, or a related field or field experience
- PhD degree in educational technology, curriculum development, education, instructional design, or a related field or field experience is preferred
- ISW Facilitator Certificate would be an asset
- Experience:
- 3 years of progressive experience researching and creating technology-enabled course development and teaching resources across a range of teaching modalities
- Previous experience facilitating related educational development opportunities
- Previous experience facilitating related educational development opportunities in a post-secondary setting is preferred
- Teaching and/or course development experience in some combination of face-to-face, blended, and/or online modality in a post-secondary setting would be an asset
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of theory and principles of effective teaching and learning strategies, activities and assessments
- Demonstrated knowledge, experience and practice in training, program development and one-on-one consultations
- Experience with Learning Management Systems, knowledge of Sakai/Owl an advantage
- Demonstrated knowledge of project management and the ability to manage multiple projects, people, and schedules within an academic term framework preferred
- Ability to quickly research, evaluate, and recommend the viability of new technologies and innovations in eLearning
- Ability to relate to faculty academically and bridge understanding of disciplinary pedagogy into various delivery formats
- Decision making skills to evaluate strengths and weaknesses of online courses based on best practices and evaluations from students and instructors
- Effective presentation skills to both small, large and diverse audiences
- Exceptional written and verbal communication, professional and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability and natural inclination to interact with people in a professional, respectful and diplomatic manner
- Ability to work in a team environment at multiple organizational levels within Western
