Foundry is a dynamic provincial initiative creating a new model of care through a network of collaborative services designed to empower youth and families.

**About the Role**:
In this crucial operational role, you’ll report to the Lead, Research Operations at Foundry, working closely with an expanding team that includes a Grants Manager, Engagement Specialist, and Research Coordinators. With Foundry’s growth, we’re looking for a self-starter who can hit the ground running, providing both leadership and hands-on program management. As Research Manager, you’ll oversee multiple research projects, mentor and coach research teams, and implement key processes and SOPs to drive Foundry’s evidence-based approach forward.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Team Leadership & Mentorship: Guide and support research teams.
- Operational Oversight: Oversee day-to-day operations of research projects, ensuring efficient processes and adherence to budgets.
- Program & Process Management: Lead the development and implementation of SOPs, guidance documents, and training materials to support consistent, high-quality research.
- Budget Management: Oversee budgeting aspects across projects to align with funding and project objectives, collaborating with team members and external partners.
- Strategic Partnerships & Growth: Work with internal and external partners, as well as new team roles, to further Foundry’s mission and promote an evidence-based, client-centered care model.

What You Bring:
Education, Training and Experience
A Master’s degree in an area relevant to health care or other relevant scientific discipline such as Social Sciences or Public Health. Minimum three (3) to five (5) years’ working in an academic and/or clinical research operations.
Experience in conducting and/or managing interdisciplinary local, regional and national research.
Experience guiding new research projects through review, approval, implementation, and completion.
CCRP designation in clinical research or a PMP designation in project management, preferred.
Academic, clinical and/or research training and experience in youth mental health and/or substance use, preferred.
Experience working with community agencies, organizations, and populations of people with mental health and substance use concerns.

Skills and Abilities
Advanced knowledge of relevant legislation, training, regulations, and guidelines and other applicable requirements for human and health research.
Proven ability to lead teams and to promote teamwork, work collaboratively and build consensus with diverse groups.
Highly developed analytical and critical thinking skills.
Excellent written and spoken communication and presentation skills, with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with external experts, physicians and other healthcare decision makers.
Familiarity with grant submission processes, and both local and federal funding sources and experience working with granting agencies.
Familiarity with contract negotiations, budget planning/monitoring/managing, and financial reporting.
Familiarity with provincial and national privacy and data sharing legislation for research purposes.
In depth knowledge with the concepts of a range of health research methodologies, including protocol development and implementation.

What We Offer:
1. Manages the research program for Foundry, including informing medium and long term strategic planning and core research infrastructure development; building staff and investigator capacity; engaging the Foundry network and other institutions to build scientific partnerships.
2. Supervises FCO research staff and supports research scientists in the operational oversight of all research project staff including:
a. Providing organizational orientation and training specific to the research activities of Foundry and the job responsibilities of research staff members.
b. Fostering and facilitating feedback regarding team performance, facilitates professional development, advancement and training of research staff.
c. Coordinating personnel across research studies, including common training and staffing-level management.
d. Supporting hiring of new research staff involved in research projects at Foundry.
e. Fostering a working environment that stimulates learning and inquiry and promotes a culture of interdisciplinary teamwork.
3. Oversees the implementation and coordination of research activities taking place across the Foundry network, including research with partners in other provinces in Canada and internationally.
