**PURPOSE**:
The Medical Advisor supports the company by providing expert medical/scientific support to both internal and external customers and developing and executing the brand medical plan associated with the assigned products and therapy area. The Medical Advisor works with the Medical team, the cross-functional teams, and global teams by providing scientific expertise, advice and technical leadership to maximize commercial benefit of Takeda’s products in the Canadian Market.

**KEY JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES**:

- Assist the Therapeutic Area Medical Director in the development of therapeutic area strategies of importance.
- Ensure strategic implementation of the Brand National Medical Plan.
- Assure alignment of Brand National Medical Plan with Therapeutic Area Medical Strategies and Brand Plan.
- Develop the MSL strategies and tactics related to the Brand.
- Oversee the generation and communication of medical and scientific information in alignment with Medical strategies. Responsibilities may include the following:

- Medical Plan execution with Medical Communication Managers
- Alignment of Medical Information and Publications program
- Alignment of Medical Science Liaisons tactical plan execution
- Medical Review of promotional and non-promotional pieces
- Medical support for Marketing, Sales, Regulatory, Market Access, Government, QA and Compliance.
- Foster strong and effective relationships with Canadian External Experts through advisory boards, professional associations, professional meetings and conferences etc., to build scientific understanding and advancement around Takeda’s assets (marketed and pipeline)
- Engage Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) in activities in support of scientific goals and provide KOL mapping
- Maintain a high awareness of new developments in the therapeutic area, including Takeda scientific data, competitor activities and relevant changes in the political and regulatory environment. and Takeda’s global publications strategy
- Leverage medical expertise and research knowledge to support Regulatory Affairs in its development of filing strategies (including; label/monograph enhancement and supplemental NDS’s) and responses to Health Canada questions, and where necessary attend Health Canada meetings.
- Work collaboratively with internal Takeda stakeholders (Government Affairs, Marketing, Sales, Global Medical Affairs) to align strategic medical and scientific initiatives.
- Additional duties as appropriate to include direct customer facing activities to assist in field execution of Medical strategies and tactics.

- Demonstrated Leadership skills to develop plans including:

- Excellent interpersonal, collaboration and relationship management skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including presentation, influencing and negotiating skills and medical and scientific writing skills
- State of the art knowledge of assigned therapeutic area and expertise in the medical/therapeutic usage of the specialty products. Subject area expertise to interact with opinion leaders and external experts as a peer.
- Project Management and facilitation skills
- Ability to plan and coordinate programs and activities
- Ability to analyze and interpret scientific results and to present complex scientific/medical information to scientific and lay audiences.

**Business Knowledge**
- Knowledge of the business strategies of Takeda Canada and the business implications of scientific and medical plans and decisions
- Knowledge of the Health Canada and other federal and provincial policies impacting area.
- Expert knowledge of Rx&D guidelines and PAAB code
- Extensive knowledge of clinical trial design, regulations and statistics
- Understanding of marketing principles and strategies
- Proven vendor and/or project management experience

**EDUCATION, LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE**:

- A minimum of five (5) years of pharmaceutical industry experience in Research and Development or Medical Affairs.
- Proof of identity and entitlement to work in Canada (e.g. Social Insurance Number, Work Permit)

Preferred
- Lung Cancer/Colorectal Experience
- Successful experience in an emerging pharmaceutical or biotech firm or similar startup experience

**TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS**:

- Willingness to travel to various meetings or client sites, including overnight trips. Some international travel may be required.
