JOB DESCRIPTION- **Manager of Equine Programming**
Reports to: Director of Equine Programming

If you are a dedicated, team player with a passion for standardbred horse racing than we have a terrific opportunity for you to join our dynamic team at the Western Fair District. In this position you will help direct the racing operations at one of the province’s leading racetracks and support Canada’s top standardbred yearling sale (London Classic Yearling Sale - LCYS)

**Job Details**:
The Manager of Equine Programming reports directly to the Director of Equine Programming with oversight and support of The Raceway and LCYS. Key responsibilities include management of race day operations and staff, as well as strategic collaboration to meet future goals of the Raceway, LCYS and overall organization.

**Areas of Responsibility**:

- Liaise with local horse people and responsible for adherence to AGCO rules of racing
- Development and enhancement of on-track and video product & wagering menu
- Post time co-ordination for live races
- Supervision of tote/timing/charting staff
- Development of on-track programming/events to increase attendance and enhance on-track experience
- Research and recommend projects related to capital improvements
- Promptly communicate any changes to the AGCO, communicate with AGCO officials
- Work with the Director of Equine Programming to enhance strategies for the Raceway
- Support marketing and social media communications, working with the Track Announcer and WFD Media Team
- Support in the planning, organization, promotion and execution of the London Classic Yearling Sale
- Must comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Western Fair District Health & Safety Policy and Awareness Program/Safety Manual, all Western Fair District procedures and any other applicable legislation
- Work as a team player promoting a positive and professional work environment and conduct role with integrity and respect
- Act as an Ambassador throughout the community, positively representing the Western Fair District.
- Abide by and uphold all policies and procedures of Western Fair District
- Other duties as assigned in order to meet the overall goals and objectives of the Western Fair District

**Skills and Qualifications**:

- 2-3 years related experience
- Must have minimum 2 years of supervisory experience
- Must be able to obtain AGCO license
- Strong knowledge of standardbred racing is an asset
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work well under pressure individually, and as part of a team

**Working Conditions**:

- Work may be performed while sitting, standing or walking
- Environment - at times there could be exposure to moving machinery as well as dust, dirt and animals - as well as marked changes in temperature and humidity
