General Manager

Reports to: Vice President

The General Manager (GM) is one of the main driving forces in the Company’s growth as they are responsible for overseeing guest experience and expectation, developing the team, fostering a fair, positive and diverse workplace. The GM ensures all restaurant operations are maintained and exceeded to company standards. This role is all encompassing as they enforce and maintain Company Policies, a safe work environment, execute strategic plans for business growth, and develop all employees. A GM must be available to work a variety of shifts within hours of operation and maintain flexibility for scheduling. The GM also works in cooperation with the Managers of Human Resources and Finance.

**Responsibilities**:

- Responsible for all daily location operations, achieving objectives (sales, cost of goods & labour) established by VP, Operations and Head Office
- Schedule all management team members, ensuring ample coverage and that it follows Stella’s labour budget, projections, and policies
- Provide an excellent guest experience by exceeding guests' expectations.
- Lead management team in all recruitment, training, onboarding & coaching
- Maintain an up-to-date working knowledge of menu items, including allergy restrictions, while ensuring staff are following the allergy protocol procedure
- Ensure guest satisfaction through the execution of Stella’s food and beverage specs being maintained and exceeded on every order
- Ensure guest complaints/concerns are addressed promptly and respectfully
- Assisting management team in placing and receiving orders from Commissary, ensuring there are always sufficient levels of product stocked and ready for preparation
- Ensuring all equipment is clean and in good working order and that any issues are communicated
- Providing feedback to VP, Operations and Head Office on employee performance, equipment, and opportunities for improvement to Stella’s Policies & Procedures
- Overseeing performance management of all staff, including discipline, semi-annual performance reviews, testing and development plans
- Overseeing that all cleaning checklists are being completed, ensuring a safe, sanitized, and welcoming environment
- Ensure safe food handling procedures are followed
- Create & implement pars to ensure costs are consistent within the budget
- Verify inventory is being counted and handled correctly
- Contribute to, maintain, & exceed the culture through development of employees modeling oneself after the company’s core values and instill this in others.
- Ensure that all BOH and FOH safety standards are maintained, and train where necessary
- Training the KM and FOH Manager on Stella’s recruitment & onboarding practices
- Ensure accurate payroll is recorded daily and ready for payroll on a bi-weekly basis
- Participate in developing, implementing, and managing strategic plans set out by the company for all categories within the budget
- Implementing and training the KM and FOH Manager on how to create schedules; ensure it follows and pertains to the labour budget, projections, policies
- Daily cash reconciliation while following Stella’s Cash Handling Procedures 
- Always ensure confidentiality and protection of all employee information
- Ensure that all employees are provided with a work environment that is informative, fun, motivational, safe, and free of harassment
- Follow up on any employee concerns in a timely manner, including relevant parties as needed
- Ensure that bi-weekly communication meetings are held with actionable minutes
- Prepare for and ensure team and location is ready for any external audits including but not limited to Head office, Workplace Safety and Health, Office of the Fire Department.
- Ensure H&S training occurs, and quarterly meetings are held as required forwarding reports and taking action as needed.
- Other duties as assigned

**Requirements**:

- Maintain Smart Choices and Manitoba Food Handlers certification
- Excellent communication skills - listening, verbal and written
- 2-3 years' experience in a restaurant management role
- Experience managing a team of 50+ staff members
- Proven ability to develop, implement and manage strategic plans for all categories within budget
- Outstanding time-management and multitasking skills
- Ability to be proactive in challenging situations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- An excellent understanding of the English language
- Excellent coaching and team-building skills
- Open and flexible availability
