**CTLA02H3- Exploring Inter-Cultural Perspectives in Academic Contexts**

**Course overview**:
CTLA02H3 is designed for first year, incoming, international students enrolled into UTSC's Green Path Program. The course has a strong focus on the complex and dynamic relationship between language, culture, and context, and the implications for academic/university engagement. Through a variety of learning opportunities, students share their local knowledge while exploring their own role in contributing to transformative intercultural knowledge(s) by attending both weekly in-person or online, two-hour lectures and one two-hour practicum lead by TAs/SIAs. Practicum sections provide complementary skills development with a practical focus on Academic English language use in higher education and the development of critical and reflective thinking and writing skills. The course provides students with multiple opportunities for learning, development, and formative feedback, through assignments, individual and group work, and weekly readings, media, quizzes, and academic journal writing on a variety of cultural topics.

**Description of Duties**:
All normal duties related to the design, teaching, evaluation and administration of a university credit course, including preparation, delivery and evaluation of course content. Responsible for weekly lectures and coordination of practicum sections;. This position requires both strong organizational abilities as well as creative approaches to course instruction.

Responsible for effective use of the learning management system (Quercus) for course delivery, assignments, evaluation, discussions and course communications; effective use and a high degree of comfort using media, visuals and interactive presentation software to support large classroom learning and participation. Responsible for supervision, coordination, support and training of TA/SIA instructional team.

Sessional Lecturer I Long Term: $9,930.79

Sessional Lecturer II: $10,121.77

Sessional Lecturer II Long Term: $10,326.62

Sessional Lecturer III: $10,362.76

Sessional Lecturer III Long Term: $10.570.02
