Program Support Officer

**Job Summary**:
The Group Home Program Staff is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a group home for autistic children and youth. The Program staff ensures that children receive proper care, support, and guidance within a safe and nurturing environment. This role involves managing staff, coordinating activities, maintaining the home, and working closely with other professionals to support the emotional, physical, and social well-being of the children.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Resident Care**:
- Oversee the daily care and supervision of children, ensuring their safety, well-being, and development.
- Facilitate individual and group activities that promote social, emotional, and educational development.
- Provide guidance and support to residents, helping them to develop life skills and positive behaviors.
- Coordinate with external professionals (e.g., therapists, social workers) to support residents' therapeutic needs.
- **Administrative Duties**:
- Maintain accurate records, including incident reports, medication logs, and case notes.
- Ensure that the home is well-maintained, clean, and compliant with health and safety standards.
- Manage the home's budget, including overseeing expenditures and purchasing necessary supplies.
- **Crisis Management**:
- Respond to emergencies and crises, implementing appropriate interventions.
- Handle conflict resolution among residents and staff in a constructive and professional manner.
- **Communication**:
- Report regularly to the Program Manager on the status of the home and residents.
- Facilitate communication between the residents and external services, such as education and healthcare providers.
**Qualifications**:
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, child and youth worker or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working in a residential setting with children or adolescents, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Knowledge of child welfare practices, trauma-informed care, and behavioral management techniques.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
- CPR and First Aid certification, CPI, UMAB.
**Working Conditions**:
- Ability to work in a group home environment, which may include physical activities, outings, and occasional travel.
- Potential exposure to stressful situations and crises requiring quick decision-making.
**Physical Requirements**:
- Ability to perform physical activities such as lifting and carrying children and equipment, if necessary.
- Ability to participate in recreational activities and outings with the children.
**Compensation**:
- Salary based on experience and qualifications.
