Job Summary:

**Hours of Work**
35 hours per week Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:00am and 4:00pm. Occasional evening work would be required to attend meetings.
**Your role**
- Research, investigate and provide documents as requested related to claims for loss.
- Oversee the on-board vehicle/truck systems for the management of materials used for Operations such as salt for winter control, asphalt for road repairs is optimized.
- Research best practices and make recommendations for programs to ensure the efficient operation of business processes.
- Ensuring calibration of material delivery systems are always operating within acceptable tolerances.
- Analyze material usage data collected to ensure compliance and make recommendation to improve efficiency.
- Lead the development, monitoring and reporting of program management systems to ensure the timely and accurate provision of programs and reports.
- Develop a process to maintain/monitor existing tenders for compliance and ensure timely renewal of tenders.
- In conjunction with the Manager/Supervisors prepare tenders/contract renewals on behalf of Operations.
- Provide a central liaison point including managing internal and external enquiries, in line with legislation and City of Guelph policies or referring enquiries to the appropriate business representative in an efficient and timely manner.
- Recommend and oversee procedures and compliance with the integrity and maintenance of program data and record management systems to ensure best practice.
- Maintain a high level of service to stakeholders by maintaining effective relationships, providing timely advice and resolutions and negotiating agreed timeframes for resolution.
- Maintain AVL Tracking Systems for city trucks and vehicles.
- Review and make recommendations for the optimization of Operations routes.
- Act as the department liaison for web mapping content for the City’s intranet and internet GIS websites.
- Assisting with field work to aid operational units with data gathering and verification.
- Conducts research and development; analyze, interpret, and report on GIS and Open Data research findings, making appropriate recommendations.
- Collaborates on cross-functional teams with other City staff and consultants that may be involved in Open Data, spatial analysis, and/or GIS projects throughout the Corporation. Be a resource to the departmental workplans and adjust according to changing priorities.
- Provides assistance to Public Works Supervisors.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
**Qualifications**
- A valid class “G” driver license in good standing is required to operate city vehicles. A valid class “DZ” would be an asset.
- Ability to monitor compliance of operations programs and services.
- Knowledge of principles and practices related to winter control, drainage, and road maintenance activities.
- Knowledge of and ability to comply with policies, procedures and practices, including relevant regulations (e.g. Minimum Maintenance Standards, Highway Traffic Act, The Ontario Traffic Manual - Book 7 Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Protection Act and Provincial Offences Act), rules of evidence and court procedures,
- Knowledge of digital map production, data management, ARCGIS software, and GIS analysis.
- Understanding of role specific health and safety responsibilities, and ensured compliance with internal and external safety policies, procedures, and legislation, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Ability to collaborate and work effectively with key stakeholders such as internal staff, external agencies, area municipalities, the general public, and contractors to deliver programs and services.
- Able to manage multiple priorities and changing demands.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to give constructive feedback.
- Attention to detail and ability to work with a high level of accuracy.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to develop reports and make presentations to staff.
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook).
