Métis Credible Assertion Advisor

The Strategic Engagement and Policy Innovation (SEPI) branch is seeking meticulous, collaborative and team-oriented individuals who have knowledge and experience of Métis communities and peoples in Alberta.
The Métis Credible Assertion Advisor role focuses on the review of Métis aboriginal rights assertions. The incumbent will lead the review and analysis of assertions, which contain a large volume of complex materials, including but not limited to historical documents, expert reports, genealogies, traditional land use data and organizational records. The Advisor will meet with Métis organizations to explain the Métis credible assertion process and criteria, answer questions and provide constructive feedback. The incumbent will lead a portfolio of assertions.
**Responsibilities**:
Review Métis aboriginal rights assertions, lead analysis, engage with Métis organizations, manage assertion portfolio.
**Qualifications**
A University degree in a related field (Indigenous Studies, Public Policy, History, Political Science, Geography, Anthropology, etc.) supplemented by a minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible related experience is required.
**Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of**:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
**Required experience includes**:
- Demonstrated experience with qualitative research and analysis.
- Experience with large projects requiring critical thinking and solution-focused problem-solving.
- Experience drafting concise reports summarizing large scale projects.
- Experience presenting complex ideas to diverse audiences.
- Project management experience.

**Salary**: $71,968.00-$94,069.00 per year
