We are looking for a Technical Advisor to support our Canadian Photonics Fabrication Centre. The Technical Advisor would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.

This position’s main responsibilities are with respect to activities supported by a Manufacturing Execution System (MES). This software houses information needed to execute semiconductor wafer processing to meet client demands. Other system uses include the tracking of facility maintenance activities, the collection of parametric data from the wafer fab, and the preservation of the history of activities at the CPFC.

This position will maintain the legacy MES and be responsible for maintenance of the data and the database on which the system relies. This includes addition and/or modification of existing data and provision of datamining and administrative support where required.

Additionally, this position will be the main technical resource for implementation, roll out, training and ongoing support of new commercially available MES which has been purchased already.

This MES software is critical in maintaining operational activities which are responsible for research centre’s revenues and client deliverables.

Bachelor of Computer Science, physical or chemical of material science engineering.

**Experience**:

- Experience in the design, development and implementation of database manufacturing execution systems and document management systems, including document conversion, publication through the use of SQL, SGML, XML or HTML, and implementation of new document delivery systems.
- Experience working in a semiconductor environment an asset.

- Knowledge of document analysis and its appropriateness as it applies to the implementation of MES system.
- Knowledge of current document conversion methods, techniques and tools available. Insight into document management and document retrieval systems including document databases.
- Knowledge of document processing systems such as word processing, computer graphics and page layout.
- Knowledge of the use of design of experiments, process control checks, trend charts, WIP tracking and paperless MES.
- Demonstrated ability to recognize problems with complex processes or fabrication tools and assist with/determine possible causes and solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to understand the dynamic interaction of process steps across various fabrication areas.
- Ability to plan, schedule, and carry out all steps needed for the prototyping of microfabricated semiconductor devices.

Relocation assistance will be determined in accordance with the NRC's directives.

**Compensation**:
From $89,548 to $112,660 per annum.

An incumbent occupying a position within the CS Group is currently entitled to receive a terminable allowance of $212 per month.
