**The Role and Key Responsibilities**

We are currently looking for an experienced Construction Means and Methods Expert to provide impartial and unbiased guidance on the constructability and deliverability of a project within a wider programme during development phase. The role is to provide guidance using learned experience during development phase proposals of a project to ensure that the proposal for the project represents a proposition for the owner which can progress as efficiently as practicable. Means and methods teams act independently of both project owner and supply chain and are responsible for establishing and maintaining a collaborative and productive relationship between the Participants. The duties of this role will include but not be limited to:

- Provide support, challenge and opinion to the Project Team on the key drivers in the Development Phase Proposal, including but not limited to design and engineering options, constructability, construction means and methods, packaging and contracting strategies, sub-contracting and procurement, schedule and sequencing, risk management, and Target Price development.
- Ensure that the Development Phase Proposal is robust, with an efficient delivery methodology and an efficient design that has eliminated as much waste as possible to meet the agreed Value for Money Statement and represents an agreed value proposition for the Project Owner.
- Maintain independence and impartiality consistently in the relationship with and between the Participants.
- Assist Participants to understand the principles of challenging construction methods, sequencing across differing disciplines whilst identifying efficiency and eliminating inefficiency.
- Provide specialist advice and guidance pertaining to the establishment and maintenance of a collaborative and productive contractual relationship between the Participants when jointly producing the Development Phase Proposal.
- Lead the Project Means and Methods setup and lead key activities under the process with support from other company experts and Project resources.
- Provide training and/or assessment of the other Project resources to ensure that they possess the required capabilities to undertake the Means and Methods activities.
- Undertake the discrete Means and Methods activities in line with the agreed Project process and assure that the process is being properly undertaken and that outputs meet the standards required to deliver the project strategy.
- Utilise learned experience and lessons learned from other relevant projects as guidance points to encourage thought process of Participants, supporting creative thinking for alternative solutions.

- Strong understanding of staging and scheduling principles
- Strong knowledge of value for money principles and progressive contracting
- Strong negotiation experience and ability to challenge on complex construction issues
- Excellent experience in innovative approaches to delivery
- Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with all stakeholders and build strong relationships.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage complex projects and provide valuable insights and recommendations to project teams.
- Ability to access a wide, independent network of disciplines.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

**Qualifications and Educational Requirements**
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Project Management, Construction Management, or other relevant field.
- At least 10 years of relevant experience in a similar role, preferably in the rail infrastructure sector.
