The Office of Residence Education & Programs (OREP) provides a myriad of academic, social and leadership programs that help students transition to university life, build connections with others, and develop life skills outside the classroom. **Responsibilities**:
The Student Projects Assistant - Orientation works with the Residence Life Management Team (RLMT), more specifically, the Associate Director, Residence Engagement, to accomplish yearlong projects as outlined below and new projects that emerge over the summer months and academic year. The incumbent will liaise with key partners on campus and within the residence system to coordinate efforts to develop creative and effective engagement programs, student leader training, and resource materials. The project outcomes aim to support the programming and leadership efforts of the Residence Staff, Residence Sophs and Residents’ Councils in the upcoming academic year. Specific accountabilities include:
Design and update the Residence Soph Field Guide with the Residence Orientation Coordinator (ROC) and the Summer Student Projects Assistant - Graphics

Update Residents’ Council and Residence Staff portals with the Administrative Coordinator and OWL Student Leader Portal Committee

Maintain accurate and updated information in the Residence Soph OneDrive

Develop an assessment plan for the Orientation program alongside the ROC. Specific tools include:
Post-Orientation Week Survey

Soph Town Halls

Change Camps

Develop a comprehensive assessment report based on the findings from the Post-Orientation Week Survey, complete with recommendations for 2023

Assist the Training Coordinator with the implementation, distribution, and analysis of Soph Peer Feedback Surveys and Student Feedback Surveys

Assist the Training Coordinator with the development of Soph training sessions for January PD

Attend and actively participate in Housing’s Residence-Based Day Committee

Develop and plan Residence-Based Day with the Residence-Based Day Committee

Create buttons required for Residence Staff and Sophs, and program-related buttons

Assist with preparing lobby bulletin boards for Residence Staff, Soph, and Council photos

Assist the Upper-Year Experience Committee with the development and implementation of an Upper-Year Student’s Welcome Day in September

Assist the Program Coordinators with preparing for and supporting programming and coordination for International Move-In and International Student Orientation in August

Update Orientation Leader selection guidelines

Update standing Orientation policies in accordance with the 3-year review schedule

Develop a communications plan to share important dates and ongoing decisions made by the Orientation Operations Committee with campus partners.

Design and implement an Soph assessment matrix to monitor and evaluate yearlong performance

Provide feedback on draft policies and protocols with respect to the Residence system.

Aid in supporting the RLMT and the Orientation Operations Committee with a variety of yearlong projects determined in September.

Assist with the creation of ongoing professional development initiatives in collaboration with the ROC

Research best practices in relation to Residence Life Programs and Residence Hall Councils at other institutions

Aid in developing recruitment strategies and materials for Residence Sophs and Residents’ Councils with the RLMT

Administrate all the Residence Soph recruitment onboarding process including scheduling, facilitating interviews, sending offers, and communicating with all applicants.

Attend and actively participate in Housing’s Move-In Day Committee

Support the Move-in process for Sophs and first-year students

Assist the ROC in organizing the budget requests submitted by various Orientation Leadership Teams

Collaborate with the ROC to organize OWeek appreciation gifts and socials for Residence Sophs and Leadership Teams

Assist the ROC in developing content and team building activities for bi-weekly Soph meeting agendas
