Provides administrative, clerical and financial assistance to the Vice-President, Research and International (VPRI) office in support of the VPRI portfolio operating budget and all internal and external research grants and projects. Provides assistance to staff and stake holders regarding the interpretation of university polices and procedures and research accounting guidelines. Processes expenditures and revenues; reconciles and maintains financial records for operating accounts, projects, endowments, and research centres. Prepares and reviews a variety of administrative documents; maintains the integrity of information systems and/or databases; conducts on-line and/or paper-based record searches; composes routine correspondence; maintains the petty cash fund; maintains files; completes on-line Time and Absence records for positive and exception reporting appointments; researches and obtains quotations for equipment and capital purchases; and monitors operating, capital and/or faculty research budgets.

Qualifications:

- Excellent knowledge of accounting procedures and principles.
- Good knowledge of university policies and procedures.
- Good knowledge of automated record keeping and financial information systems and concepts.
- Good knowledge of bookkeeping and basic accounting procedures.
- 55 wpm keyboarding skill with high degree of accuracy.
- Excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent client service and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent analytical reasoning, problem
- solving and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to train others on the use of financial reporting systems (e.g., FAST, FINS) and repeated procedures.
- Ability to perform arithmetic calculations with accuracy.
- Ability to maintain records with a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to handle confidential material with discretion.
- Ability to exercise mature judgment and initiative.
