Reporting to the Senior Manager, Financial Reporting, the Manager, will be an integral member of the Finance team and is responsible for leading the Financial Accounting and Reporting team. The incumbent’s primary role will be to provide oversight of the external reporting requirements for Mount Sinai Hospital, a lead role in coordinating and overseeing the year-end audit process, manage the month-end process, provide customer service to internal and external clients and focus on select special projects related to internal controls and process design/improvement.

**Responsibilities**:
**Month End and Financial Reporting**:

- Manage the month end close process, including review and approval of journal entries and account and bank reconciliations
- Ensure Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, Ministry Information System MIS and other applicable guidelines, and internal policies are followed at all times
- Manage the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial summaries for distribution to Senior Leadership explaining and analyzing material variances
- Work closely with the Financial Planning and Analysis group to ensure financial results are complete and accurate
- Manage account reconciliation process across the Financial Accounting and Reporting team
- Prepare monthly and annual Financial Statements and contribute to preparation of Board/Sub-Committee presentations

**External Reporting**:

- Manage quarterly and annual Ministry and regulatory reporting process
- Responsible for Ministry of Health/Ontario Health funding analysis, including the understanding of funding implications under the Ministry’s Health Based Funding Reform
- Coordination of the annual external audit of the Hospital, as well as audits of various Ministry funded programs
- Manage the preparation of the T3010, remittances and tax related issues (HST, etc.)

**Partner with Program and Business Units**:

- Attend monthly/quarterly reviews with clinicians, managers and directors
- Develop insights and understand any implications to financial results of the hospital
- Become a trusted advisor and deliver on client service excellence to all Program and Business Units

**Budgeting/Forecasting as required**:

- Work with the Financial Planning and Analysis team in the completion of the annual budget
- Assist in the development of forecasts, as required

**Lead, inspire and motivate**:

- Foster a positive work environment through the development and support of effective communication processes
- Provide leadership to the Financial Accounting & Reporting team
- Mentor/coach staff to achieve the next level in their personal and professional growth
- Monitor staff performance, actively participate in the formal performance reviews and engage in staff development initiatives where appropriate

**Quality and Customer Service**:

- Takes a lead role in creating a culture of safety, risk mitigation, quality, and service at the unit level and across the portfolio, to improve practices and service delivery related to the project, while managing costs and risks.
- Actively solicits client feedback to ensure optimal customer service
- Ensures that adequate structures and processes are in place such as training, policies and procedures to minimize risk and maximize client satisfaction
- Evaluates all aspects of the Financial Accounting and Reporting portfolio to ensure effectiveness; recommends and implements changes as appropriate
- Maintains accurate records and provides timely portfolio metrics; measures internally and benchmarks to external organizations
- Researches best practices for enhancing services including engagement, rewards and recognition
- Optimizes the use of automation and technology to improve operational efficiencies and ensure safe best-in-class service
- Acts as a change champion committed to ongoing process and quality improvement
