**Job Summary**:
Part of the Product Division, the Buyer / Merchant collaborates with partners across the business to ensure product needs associated with critical priorities are identified, planned for and executed against and ensure brand consistency and market relevance to maximize profitability and sales across product classes, key items and channels/locations. S/he is responsible for delivering product insights to the Management team to inform product selling strategies, inclusive of financial goals, metrics, local product, cultural and client insights. S/he is an analytical thinker who can balance foresight, insight and hindsight to draw critical business conclusions and work closely with cross-functional partners throughout the product lifecycle for inventory planning, in-season execution and management of all product categories through weekly business analysis, corresponding actions, open-to-buy and product exit. The Merchandising Department should be able to adjust the game plan with agility to drive selling strategy across all client touch points, including visual merchandising, retail and digital experience.

**Day to day Operations**
- Daily interacting with in store Suppliers, picking, pricing and authenticating items
- Share product insights (customer, products, market trends) with the Management team, informing product strategies and channel/market/location needs
- Develop merchandising strategies for the season (department and class) for the business
- In collaboration with Buying and Inventory, create and manage pricing product architecture
- Create product assortment needs that reflect brand consistency and market relevance, maximizing profitability and sales across product class, key items and channels
- Interacting with in store Suppliers and pricing items
- Finding Wholesale partnerships and managing wholesale buys and relationships
- Validate buy accuracy, resolving breadth vs depth issues between Buying and Inventory
- Throughout each buy cycle partner with Visual Merchandising, Digital and Store Planning to inform and execute against initiatives and retail merchandising strategies
- Support in OTB conversations and align with Planning and FP&A on targets
- Review business each week/month/season, delivering recaps and actions based on insights and inventory composition, including exit and/or markdown strategies
- Other Departmental Projects as directed

**EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE**:

- BA, BSc, BBA, BComm (or equivalent), specialization in Retail or Merchandising Management an asset

**SKILLS & ABILITIES**:

- Proficient in Microsoft Office Program and mastery in excel
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret multiple data points across numerous channels and market segments
- Strong knowledge of retail mathematics, including elements of markup, margin, planning, open to buy and investor productivity
- Ability to balance analytical and creative tasks
- Strong understanding of season-to-season business performance and ability to drive business based on key financial indicators in order to maximize business opportunities
- Acute eye for product and trends
- Aware of macro lifestyle and fashion trends and how this relates to the 2nd hand market
- Ability to work independently to make sound business decision; and multitask, pivot, prioritize competing tasks and operate in a fast-paced environment
- Have a natural ability to think outside the box in problem-solving
- A quick learner, and strives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment where things can change quickly and requires multiple hats to be worn at any given time
- A good communicator written and verbal - gives concise, clear, and mindful communication at any given time
- Have a collaborative spirit, wants to work with people rather than through them, and is willing to roll up sleeves to get the job done if need be
