**POSITION SCOPE**:
Under the direction of the Director of Social Services, the Family Advocacy Manager will provide supervision to the Band Representative Workers, Administrative/Clerk and Case Aide to protect the collective best interest of Atikameksheng Anishnawbek children and families who are involved in the Child Welfare system. Ensuring the delivery of services and programs that are culturally appropriate in case management, advocacy, and prevention programming. The Family Advocacy Manager will work in close collaboration with the Child & Family Services Manager’s team, Nogdawindamin Family and Community Services, and other Child Welfare Agencies in child protection matters related to Atikameksheng Anishnawbek members.

**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Mandatory Requirements_
- A minimum, Post-Secondary Social Work Diploma or equivalent and/or Legal Services Diploma
- A minimum of three years Social Services working experience with or within a First Nation Community
- Previous management experience would be considered an asset
- Must possess a valid Class “G” Driver’s License with a clean drivers abstract
- Must provide a CPIC-Vulnerable Sector Check annually and at time of offer
- Additional Requirements_
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of the Child and Youth Family Services Act (Ontario)
- Knowledge of court proceedings involving Child, Youth and Family matters
- Able to interpret legislation and legal documents
- Knowledge of child protection processes and standards which includes strengths and needs assessment, risk assessment and eligibility spectrum
- Knowledge of Case Management techniques
- Strong demonstration of negotiation skills, techniques and advocacy
- Strong computer skills with experience using word processing software, able to access Ontario Family Law Rule Forms for court proceedings
- Knowledge of policies and procedures set by Atikameksheng Anishnawbek
- Fluent or functional in the Ojibway language would be considered an asset

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
The Family Advocacy Manager shall, in every aspect of their position:

- Promote the Atikameksheng Anishnawbek Vision and Values Statements
- Maintain the level of professionalism expected by the Atikameksheng Anishnawbek as outlined through the Policies and Procedures manual
- Uphold the ethics of their position and profession
- Program Development _
- Supervise staff in the facilitation and referrals of children and families to access prevention programming, workshops, and one-on-one and/or group counseling services.
- Explore options for crisis services
- Supervise staff in the development and delivery intervention referrals to surround and support families and caregivers
- Provide direction on the coordination of family circles
- Case Management_
- Keep informed on all relevant case-related information and documentation
- Coordinate and attend all necessary case conferences/meetings when required
- Provide assistance and direction in the coordination of counselling services and programs for children, youth and families.
- Provide direction, if needed, to support staff in providing case management through the utilization of community services.
- Assign Band Representative Workers to each file ensuring advocacy for the best interest of the children in all child protection matters.
- Ensure referrals are made to internal and external programs and services, as required.
- Coordinate Case Conferences/Reviews with all child welfare agencies and other community services to monitor Client's Service Plans and progress.
- Ensure all children who are in the care of a Child Welfare Agency have proper service delivery and connections to family and community.
- Financial Management_
- Authorize and track expenditures and monitors against approved budgets and recommend budget modifications as appropriate
- Reconcile approved payments against general ledger listing provided by the Chief Financial Officer
- Prepare annual budgets for Band Representative program
- Prepare funding submission to the Indigenous Services Canada - Canadian Human Rights Tribunal annually and as required.
- Policy Development_
- Knowledge of policies and procedures set by Atikameksheng Anishnawbek
- Participate in the development and review of policies as required.
- Personnel Management_
- Supervise, coach and direct Band Representative staff members
- Assist in the coordination and delivery of staff team meetings
- Coordinate the development of annual work plans
