**POSITION SCOPE**:
Under the supervision of the Education Services Manager, the Librarian will coordinate reference services and work with patrons to identify and locate appropriate reference material in the library and from external library sources. In addition, the librarian oversees the operation of the library services and operates the circulation desk to ensure that materials are distributed and returned for the use by all patrons. Services that include book selection, drop off and pick up are available to homebound patrons who are

unable to leave their homes to access the library.

**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Diploma in Library and Information Technician or Museum Curator OR
- A minimum education level of Grade 12 i.e. OSSD
- Two years work experience in a library environment
- Class “G” Driver’s License with clean drivers abstract
- Criminal reference check with Vulnerable Sector Check annually and at time of offer
- First Aid & CPR with AED Certification

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Conduct library information and orientation training programs and tours,
- Coordinate annual events in the library such as, but not limited to: Library Week, Family Literacy Day
- Coordinate and/or work with community programs to host activities and events that contribute to learning such as, but not limited to: film festivals, book/poetry readings, art shows, writing workshops, craft/art workshops
- Responsible to open and operate library according to approved library hours,
- Acquire new books, periodicals, audio-visual, interactive media, and other materials for the library collection,
- Maintain print, electronic, and digital collections that are catalogued and summarized in the JASI lending system,
- Receive donations of artifacts and historical documents,
- Facilitate borrowing from other library collections for patrons,
- Prepare submission of Annual Library Survey and Salaries Grant Application
