Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) needs someone like you for the role of Quality Coordinator as we work to evolve our organization's Quality Team into a high functioning provincial model. In addition to your strong attention to detail and good judgement, you have strong organizational and communication skills that enable you to work collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders. You have a solid understanding of College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) standards for Diagnostic Laboratory Accreditation and knowledge of the steps an APL department can take to ensure that they are compliant with standards and prepared for an accreditation assessment. You have a passion for continual improvement and the methodologies that can be used to plan, implement, and measure the success of improvement projects.

**Description**:
Reporting to the Quality Lead and/or the Manager of Quality, Safety, and Education, the Quality Coordinator works with a high degree of independence to coordinate and implement provincial quality programs and processes. The position works collaboratively with disciplines and provincial programs including but not limited to Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Point of Care, and Public Health to implement and maintain the APL Quality Management System while ensuring the specialty needs of programs and/or disciplines are met. Tasks associated with this role include (but are not limited to) coordination, delivery, support and maintenance of APL’s Quality Management System (QMS), process and procedure development, and providing guidance to disciplines and programs on accreditation and legislative requirements. This position plays an active role in supporting standardization activities and may also support process improvement initiatives.

**Required Qualifications**:
Completion of an accredited program in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) or Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technology (CLXT). Active (or eligible for) registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA) or the Alberta College of Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technologists (ACCLXT).

**Additional Required Qualifications**:
Minimum of three (3) years’ experience working as an MLT or CLXT within the last five (5) years. Minimum one (1) year experience in the development, review, and revision of policies, procedures, or forms. Recent (within the last 5 years) experience participating in accreditation preparation activities and post-assessment corrective actions to ensure compliance with College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) standards for Diagnostic Laboratory Accreditation. Recent (within the last 5 years) experience facilitating meetings and engaging with stakeholders internal and external to APL. Recent (within the last 5 years) experience leading or participating in process improvement projects.

**Preferred Qualifications**:
Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science BSc (MLS) or related field. Quality Management System Certificate or equivalent post-secondary education in Quality Management Systems. Formal certificate Process Improvement. (e.g. AIW Green Belt). Formal certificate in Change Management (e.g. ProSCI certification). Formal certificate in Project Management.
