Data Analyst

About the Role

The Data Analyst will provide technical and analytical knowledge in the development and support of forecasting models, to design and
manage the reporting environment as well as evolve the data collection, analysis, and reporting capabilities of the office. Working under
mínimal supervision, the Data Analyst will collaborate and be mentored by a more senior business intelligence analyst.

Work location for this position is flexible but the work is required to be completed within the Province of Ontario. The position can be
remote, in-office, or hybrid.

Specific Duties
- Build custom measures and dashboards, using a variety of tools as appropriate (Power BI, DAX, others).
- Collect, cleanse, curate, combine, extract and manipulate data to store in a central data warehouse, using a variety of tools as
- appropriate (SQL, Python, R, others).- Utilize your ETL experience to support and maintain a centralized source of business data and metrics for management to
- access when making business decisions.- Research, extract, and manipulate complex data from all relevant sources.
- Receive and critically analyze piecemeal submissions from multiple sources to ensure you develop and provide the most
- effective and appropriate solutions to the leaders of Kent & Essex Mutual.- Analyze data sets to uncover opportunities, new insights and recommend strategies to improve processes and practices.
- Develop forecasting and modeling tools to identify trends, anomalies and causes and recommend proactive solutions.
- Ad hoc reporting.

Skills & Requirements
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in quantitative or related field (computer science, software engineering, data science,

statistics, mathematics) or equivalent training and relevant work experience.
- Required - Advanced knowledge and experience using SQL, Power BI, Tableau.
- 1-2 years of working experience (could be a co-op position) in an analytical or reporting role using tools such as SAS, SQL,

Visual Basic, HTML, data visualization or ETL tools for the purpose of data mining, staging, storing, reporting, and providing
business insights.
- Proficiency in database query reporting tools (SQL) in an analytical setting and the ability to automate reporting.
- Advanced excel proficiency including writing Macros and custom VBA scripting.
- Data analysis using languages and tools such as Python, R.
- Knowledge and experience with data visualization and business intelligence software.
- Ability to deal effectively and professionally in a rapidly changing business environment.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with demonstrated expertise in the effective communication and visualization of
- data for a variety of audiences.- High level of interpersonal skills.
- Strong work ethic and initiative.
- Ability to work independently and follow projects to completion.
- Ability to synthesize complex or diverse information, collect and research data to identify relationships, problems, and issues.
