Join us and support the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.As a Navigator at the Y, you support parents and caregivers who have children ages 0-18. This position includes a variety of tasks to help families find the correct programs and resources they require.- Conducting screens, assessments, networking, and planning/hosting workshops will be included in daily duties. The navigator also supports the FRN (Family Resource Network) Events and activities scheduled. Experiencing facilitating workshops, work within parenting curriculum is an asset to this position. With support from your leaders, you will further develop your interpersonal and communications skills as we strive to approach our work with a high degree of professionalism. You will have the opportunity to work with diverse populations and work to understand and help them overcome their own unique set of challenges.-
**This is a hourly part-time, contact position and will end March 31, 2026, with the possibility to extend. **This position requires regular use of a vehicle and must be able to support a schedule that includes working shifts that include days, evenings, and weekends.**

- The Family Support Worker carries out their duties in a professional manner and in accordance with all YMCA policies and procedures, standards of conduct and practice, health and safety standards, child protection standards and contractual, legal, and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate external service providers and community partners who are involved in our participants’ lives.
- Comply with funder mandates for participation and promotion requirements.
- Collect information to confirm eligibility and complete participant intake and/or assessment to inform ongoing participant supports
- Perform case management as per Standards of Practice guidelines and funder mandates
- Plan, implement and evaluate services/workshops as per Standards of Practice guidelines and funder mandates
- Maintain knowledge of relevant services and community resources related to the Social Determinants of Health
- Support participants and their natural supports within YMCA guidelines and adhere to the contracted performance outcomes.
- Engage with community agencies, and other organizations to maximize services and resources to participants.
- Comply with all Risk Management and Occupational Health and Safety requirements including Work Alone Policy and Procedures and the Children, Youth and Vulnerable Adults Protection Policies and Procedures.
- Inputs data accurately and timely into program designated database systems
- Work within defined program budgets
- Maintain participant files in accordance with funder and YMCA guidelines
- Collect data, including outcomes, to inform and contribute to the development of funder and YMCA reports.

**What You'll Need**
- University Degree in Human Services field or relevant equivalent
- 2 years of experience working directly with families with multiple risk factors
- Annual registration in a professional organization as required by law
- Standard First Aid and CPR-C, Police Intervention Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, and where required Child Intervention Check, and WHMIS Certification
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention and Suicide Intervention Certification is a desirable asset
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle. Where required a clear driver’s abstract and proof of liability insurance is needed
- Experience working with diverse populations
- Experience within a team environment and working remotely
- Working knowledge of issues related to the social determents of health, individual assessment, case management, group work, group facilitation, parenting skills, program promotion, program planning and outcome evaluation
- Working knowledge in supportive counselling skills, culturally sensitive practice and trauma-informed, strength-based approach within a family unit, Well-being, and Resiliency Framework
- Working knowledge of related community, housing, education, employment, justice, family, and human services resources
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- Working knowledge computer skills (Windows, Microsoft Office, and Outlook)
