Hello,

We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced Canadian Customs Broker to join our team at AEX.

**Location**: Halifax, NS

As a Canadian Customs Broker, your responsibilities will include:

- Preparing and processing import/export documents and other forms according to customs regulations, laws, and procedures.
- Signing import/export documents on behalf of clients using power of attorney. Arranging for payment of duties, taxes, storage, and transportation of imported goods and bonds to cover duty goods.
- Quoting duty and tax rates on commodities for clients. Providing advice to clients on export and import restrictions, tariff systems, letters of credit, insurance requirements, and other trade-related matters.
- Ensuring compliance with all applicable government regulations and industry standards, including the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), the Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association (CIFFA), and the World Customs Organization (WCO).
- Liaising and maintaining relationships with carriers, government agencies, and other parties involved in the customs process.
- Troubleshooting and resolving any customs-related issues, including shipment delays, discrepancies, and audits.
- Keeping up-to-date with changes in customs regulations, laws, and procedures, and informing clients and team members accordingly.
- Providing training and guidance to junior staff members on customs-related matters.
- Assisting with internal audits and ensuring that all recordkeeping requirements are met.
- Reviewing and analyzing clients' customs compliance programs and providing recommendations for improvements.
- Assisting with the development and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for customs-related processes.
- Participating in industry events, conferences, and seminars to stay informed of current trends and best practices in customs brokerage.
- Supporting sales and marketing efforts by providing technical expertise in customs-related matters.

**Qualifications**:

- A valid Canadian Customs Broker License is preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in customs brokerage or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian customs regulations, laws, and procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- .Freight Forwarding experience
- Experience with customs brokerage software, such as GETS, Crimson Logic CargoWise, or similar systems, is an asset.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Bilingualism (English/French) is considered an asset.
