Research Intern

Reporting to the Director of the Laboratory, the Research Intern - Medical Imaging will be on priority research projects that aim in helping to advance research activities related to Multinuclear MRI.
Specifically, this position will support talented individuals in acquiring essential research experience in the specialized field of medical imaging, enhancing in-demand specialized skills and knowledge. Collaborating with scientists on cutting-edge research strategies related to diagnostic medical imaging directly contributes to healthcare advancements specific to Northern Ontario.
This position is covered by the Terms and Conditions of the OPSEU Unit 677 Collective Agreement (Unit 2). A copy is available on the NOSM University website.
**Responsibilities**:
Tasks may include but are not limited to the following:
- Support ongoing clinical and pre-clinical experiments and aid in experimental planning.
- Participate in comprehensive training on various techniques required for both individual and team experiments.
- Assist research staff, undergraduate students, graduate students, and postdoctoral researcher in their day-to-day operations.
- Collaborate in grant writing activities, including researching funding opportunities, assisting in proposal development, and providing supporting documentation.
- Collaborate closely with scientists to help prepare research papers, articles, posters and presentations for publication and conferences.
- Maintain and organize regulatory and administrative documents related to research projects.
- Prepare and handle REB renewal approvals and regulatory documents (amendments, screening, monitoring, etc.) for LU, TBRHRI, and Health Canada.
- Contribute to the design of MRI imaging protocols, optimize scan parameters, and assist in data analysis.
**Qualifications**:
**Education**:
- A University degree in a relevant discipline from a recognized university with Canadian accreditation or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**:
- Related experience is considered an asset, but not a requirement
- Demonstrated writing proficiency (i.e. reports, research publications, policies);
- Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills;
- Work effectively under time pressures;
- Work effectively in a team environment;
- Work within established organizational practices, protocols, and policies;
**Language**:
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English (verbally, written and comprehension)
- French/Indigenous language skills would be considered asset
- Must reside or be willing to relocate to Northern Ontario
