The Fleet Services Division of the Department of Public Works supports the backbone of our provincial highway infrastructure. We are located at Miller Lake, the central Fleet Services hub of the province. At Miller Lake, we are pivotal in ensuring the equipment used to maintain, repair, and build Nova Scotia’s 23,000 kilometers of roads and highways, and 4,100 bridges, is always ready to go.

**About Our Opportunity**:
You will be responsible for the management, planning and coordination of all inventory activities, control of the fleet inventories at the central mechanical stores operations at Miller Lake and the provincial inventory fleet operations in the divisional stores at each provincial district. You are also responsible for the procurement of all the parts for the provincial fleet operation.

**Primary Accountabilities**:
As the Provincial Inventory Coordinator, you will manage and implement enhancements to the SAP on-line inventory system. This includes ensuring that the maintenance, updating and input/output of the SAP inventory system is completed correctly and on a timely basis. Also includes the attendance at meetings locally and outside the province in relation to SAP improvements.

Your main responsibilities will also include:

- Manages the fleet parts inventory operation for the Miller Lake stores and the division stores throughout each provincial district.
- Manages fleet stock for slow-moving and/or obsolete holdings and decides whether stock is redistributed or disposed.
- Prepares requisitions for the Provincial Fleet stock to be processed as provincial standing offers (one-three contracts) for the mechanical branches.
- Formulates policies, implements controls and guidelines to ensure the Department's fleet inventory of approximately 6.5 million dollars is managed efficiently. This includes the central operation as well as nine division stores throughout the provincial districts.
- Develops realistic short and long-range goals and objectives through the utilization of inventory management techniques and computerization.
- Provides on-going training for fleet inventory staff across the province in all aspects of the SAP inventory management system (i.e.; Goods Movement, MRP, Physical Inventory Counts). This includes training in all areas of inventory management as well as SAP.
- Establishes and updates material requirements planning procedures and practices for all fleet inventories.
- Confers with Area Managers, Fleet Service Co-ordinators, Project Manager, Shop Supervisors, Financial Services Officers, District Directors and other Department personnel on problems relating to supply, administration, inventory management, and makes recommendations on improvements. Also meets and confers with other provincial government departments to discuss methods of inventory procurement.
- Travels throughout the province to ensure proper procedures are being followed and are consistent; reviews internal systems and procedures and advises on and assists in the development and implementation of enhancements.
- Determines procedures and cycles for directing all physical inventory stocktaking throughout the Province.

**Qualifications and Experience**:
An excellent knowledge of the SAP Inventory Management system with respect to Goods Movement, Material Master, Material Requirements Planning, and Physical Inventory Counts. A working knowledge of the Nova Scotia Occupational Health and Safety Act, Movement of Dangerous Goods, and WHIMIS. Knowledge of the Provincial Government’s purchasing principles and procedures.
