**Building Services Worker**:
**The University of Saskatchewan** is one of the top research-intensive universities in Canada. The main campus also houses our campus partners such as the Royal University Hospital, Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital, National Research Council, and others. The total building area is 8.1 million square feet (754,000 square meters) across 766 hectares of land.

The **Facilities** team is comprised of over 300 trades personnel and service workers that provide trusted services and stewardship in support of teaching, learning, and discovery. This team is responsible for operations, maintenance, service, utilities distribution, and customer support. The Facilities Team Charter describes the purpose, vision, and values that in turn support the campus community.

**Primary Purpose**: This position is responsible for the delivery of the custodial operations and building services program(s) and provides trusted service to the campus community through delivering clean, safe, and properly maintained facilities and services.

**Typical Duties/Accountabilities**:With the Facilities Team Charter as the core foundation of all our activities and interactions, the incumbent must be aware and mindful of safety hazards and must always work in compliance with all safety practices and procedures.** **Always works with honesty and respect and maintains outstanding customer, peer, and management interactions.** Duties and **accountabilities include:

- Is accountable to the Facilities Team Charter and is aligned with the purpose, vision, and values and holds themselves and each other accountable to it.
- Takes ownership of any kind of work request that arises.
- Delivers customer-focused service and ensures all relevant policies, procedures, and standards are met.
- Conducts regular building walkthrough and report deficiencies.
- Completes service, maintenance, repair, and cleaning duties as assigned.
- Completes daily inspections of various buildings and reports work progress, physical problems, and repair status.
- Responds to customer inquiries, service requests, issues, problems, and takes ownership to promote quick issue resolutions.
- Interacts with managers/assistant managers, Facilities Services Agents (FSA), planning/scheduling, coworkers, and building occupants, resolving day-to-day service and maintenance requests or problems.
- Monitors prioritized work and reports status on a regular basis.
- Performs appropriate architectural, mechanical and maintenance activities.
- Keeps an inventory of tools and supplies.
- Performs custodial cleaning tasks as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

The BSW helps to coordinate work with other trades, makes recommendations for innovation, improvements, and repair; communicates to others for procurement of materials; promotes and maintains outstanding customer service, is responsible for implementing and supporting workplace initiatives as directed; and makes & meets commitments in an honest, respectful understanding manner, and other related duties as assigned. The Building Services Workers must be consistent in following all the rules, expectations, and guidelines that are set out.

**Qualifications**:
**Licenses**: Must hold and maintain a valid Province of Saskatchewan driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record.

**Experience**: Minimum three to five years of experience in a similar customer-centric role and in-depth knowledge of general building services maintenance procedures and techniques. Knowledge of best practices including workplace safety, WHMIS, and OH&S safety acts and regulations is an asset.
