The Glass Quality Assurance Manager will report to the Plant Manager or his/her designate. The Glass Quality Assurance Manager will assist in developing, implementing, and periodically evaluating the Quality program to ensure the organization’s production operations are adhering to operational procedures and creating products that adhere to internal and external specifications and expectations. This role maintains responsibility for product compliance through all manufacturing stages according to customer and industry requirements for their assigned locations.

The Glass Quality Assurance Manager position is responsible for establishing a corporate quality assurance system that promotes customer satisfaction and that positively impacts the financial performance of Opta Waterdown Inc.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review and update standard operating procedures or quality assurance manuals as it relates to the glass beneficiation and processing operations.
- Monitor performance of quality control systems to ensure effectiveness and efficiency.
- Review quality documentation necessary for regulatory submissions and inspections.
- Analyze quality control test results and provide feedback and interpretation to production management or staff.
- Verify that raw materials, purchased parts or components, in-process samples, and finished products meet established testing and inspection standards.
- Oversee workers including supervisors, inspectors, or laboratory technicians engaged in testing activities.
- Educates and trains employees as to their impact in the quality management system.
- Direct the tracking of defects, test results, or other regularly reported quality control data.
- Participate in the development of product specifications.
- Identify quality problems or areas for improvement and recommend solutions.
- Collect and analyze production samples to evaluate quality.
- Produce reports regarding nonconformance of products or processes, daily production quality, root cause analyses, or quality trends.
- Communicate quality control information to all relevant organizational departments, outside vendors, or contractors.
- Monitor development of new products to help identify possible problems for scale-up production.
- Confer with marketing and sales departments to define client requirements and expectations.
- Assist with third party ISO audits.
- Assist production facilities to prepare for ISO certification.
- Direct and oversees the quality technicians in assigned locations (when applicable)
- Establish and enforce quality and reliability standards.
- Reports to management on quality issues, trends and losses.
- Reviews suppliers purchase orders and establish supplier quality requirements.
- Participates in internal and external quality audits.
- Interfaces with supplier and customer quality representatives concerning problems with quality control and assure that effective corrective action is implemented.
- All other reasonable duties, as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to train staff.
- Thorough understanding of Quality standards and methodologies.
- Thorough understanding of manufacturing and production in the industry.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Practical experience as and/or leading ISO 9001 auditor.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in related study or equivalent work-related experience required.
- Three to five years of related experience preferred.
- Minimum 3 years in ISO 9001 or similar regulated industry is preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at a time.
