We are seeking a full time Contract Specialist to join our **Head Office** in **Winnipeg**. The Contract Specialist will be responsible for the review of tender documentation and builder contracts. They will also be responsible for communicating with branch staff and contractors regarding contract terms and amendments, and escalating contract negotiations to the Corporate Credit Manager. In addition, the Contract Specialist will coordinate the execution and distribution of the builder contracts.
**Responsibilities**:
- Review tender documentation and provide qualification feedback to branches.
- Review builder contracts, and amend when required, to ensure contracts align with Company policies and insurance policy coverage.
- Ongoing support and training to branches and staff on:
- Contract Approval and Acceptance Policy
- Documentation requirements
- Terms discussions with contractors
- Communicate contract term amendments with contractors
- Escalate contract terms negotiations to Corporate Credit Manager
- Coordinate:
- Bid bonds, Consent of Surety, Performance and Labour & Material bonds with insurance broker
- Internal agreements when required.
- With Credit Specialist, to ensure approval has been obtained before execution
- The execution of builder contracts by authorized personnel once approval has been obtained
- Keep up to date on the Provincial Lien and Prompt Payment (where applicable) Legislations in Provinces of operation
- Ensure payment terms in Navision align with contract
- Handle customer and internal inquiries
- Any other duties as required
- Mainly in an office environment
- Sitting for long periods while working with standard office equipment
- Spend extended hours in front of a computer screen
- Listen carefully to others on the telephone
- Lifting of supplies and materials up to 20 lbs.
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**:
- Strong mathematical aptitude
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work independently as well in a team-based environment
**Education and Experience Required**:
- Completion of Principles of Construction Documentation course through Winnipeg Construction Association an asset
- 2 - 3 years’ of relevant experience in contract review an asset
- Experience in the construction industry an asset
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams) and experience with ERP systems
