**PURPOSE OF POSITION**:
This is a hands-on leadership role that focuses on preventing IT-based crime from affecting the organization’s systems, data, and resources. The specialist actively develops, guides, monitors, and improves the RRM IT security and compliance processes. This role has an enterprise level scope, and directly oversees the selection, definition, implementation and verification of all IT controls at Red River Mutual offices, at third party environments, and for cloud-based solutions. This position is responsible for regular reporting, monitoring and annual attestation of IT security and compliance results.
This role requires a solid background in IT security and the ability to work with various internal and external stakeholders in the performance of the work. This role emphasizes process, structure, and governance first which can then be addressed by one of several technologies and / or technology service providers. As the Specialist, you will be responsible for:
- Leadership of IT security and compliance processes
- Compliance reporting for PCI-DSS, regulatory compliance (FIRB/OSFI), and NIST process maturity
- Participation in technology selection decisions related to Information security / Cyber security
- Oversight of partners which provide managed security services to ensure the operation of those agreements meets the control requirements of RRM and are inline with the contracts
- Active participation in Enterprise Risk discussions
- Actively support the growth and development of RRM staff by coaching and mentoring others in your areas of expertise
- Build effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
- Effectively manage budgets, with emphasis on service optimization to maximize value
- Contribute to team objective setting and the development of shared department goals
**KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS**:
- Information Security Governance: The specialist will ensure the development, review, approval, and communication of information security policies, procedures, and standards. The specialist will support the development of presentations, metrics, and analysis provided to key stakeholders such as the Senior Leadership Team to seek approval on key decisions and priorities related to Information Security.
- Information Security Compliance: The specialist will document, refine, and maintain awareness of requirements associated with payment card processing, data privacy, and regulatory oversight. The specialist will work with other teams to regularly collect, to attest to compliance with the requirements.
- Information Security Assurance: The specialist will verify the effective functioning of IT controls deployed throughout the organization. The specialist will work closely with auditing entities to ensure RRM controls remain functional and providing the necessary levels of risk reduction.
- Managed Services: Cyber and Information Security: The specialist will work actively with all providers to ensure that contracts and agreements address RRM Cyber requirements, and that services related to Cyber Security are delivered to the cost / value / quality required and service levels meet or exceed RRM’s business needs.
- Corporate Awareness: Cyber Security: The specialist will work with a business advisory team and SLT to provide monthly content to all corporate staff and explore testing capabilities (ex. Phishing testing)
- Enterprise Risk, IT Security Architecture, and Information Security (incident response): The specialist will actively contribute to each of these areas and will be a member of our Cyber Security incident response team.
**QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS**:
- Completed 4-year post-secondary degree, in Computer science, management and/or related field;
- 5 years of experience working in a business environment, in roles related to Information security, IT Governance, IT audit, IT architecture (security) or IT process management
- 3 years of related IT security experience
- In depth knowledge of IT security governance and compliance (ex. NIST / ISO frameworks)
