**Job Summary**:
**Commercial/ Residential Underwriter Responsibilities**:

- Evaluate borrower financial statements, credit histories, and property valuations.
- Assess loan risks and determine appropriate loan-to-value ratios, interest rates, and terms.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, company policies, and underwriting guidelines.
- Analyze financial statements, credit reports, income documentation, and other relevant information to assess borrower eligibility.
- Conduct thorough property evaluations and review appraisals to determine property value and ensure accuracy.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to gather necessary documentation.
- Prepare comprehensive underwriting reports and make informed recommendations.
- Stay updated with market trends, industry regulations, and changes in underwriting guidelines.

**Qualifications**:

- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Mortgage Underwriter, preferably with a focus on both commercial and residential properties.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian mortgage regulations, guidelines, and lending practices.
- Familiarity with commercial lending principles, including cash flow analysis and property valuation.
- Proficient in analyzing financial statements, tax returns, credit reports, and other relevant documents.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify risks and potential issues.
- Strong decision-making skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively.
- Relevant certifications or designations (e.g., Mortgage Broker License, Accredited Mortgage Professional) would be an asset.
