As a Commercial Underwriter, you’ll make a big impact in how we organize and administer our underwriting policies and procedures. Our in-house Westland Insurance Program (WIP) operates almost identically to that of most insurance corporations and you will underwrite risk and prepare quotes for a wide variety of policies by reviewing related information and determining the acceptability of commercial risks. This position will also play an integral and active role in building relationships with our brokers.

- Motivated to succeed and grow a book of business along with a minimum of one year experience in commercial underwriting
- Self-starter with strong analytical skills and a sharp eye for the details
- Solid communications skills with a natural ability to build trusting relationships
- Strong background in underwriting principles with a willingness to learn more
- Bonus: Working towards or completion of CIP/FCIP/CRM designations

- Uncover challenges and analyze the risks in the underwriting process
- Manage the efficient flow of underwriting documentation, prepare quotes and determine eligibility for policy renewals
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers and insurance partners by providing exceptional customer service
- Be an effective teammate and flexible in adjusting to changing work priorities
