**Job Description**:
As a Labourer, you will be performing general duties, varying on the specific department you are working in. Duties include operating basic hand tools, assisting machine operators, welders and crane operations. Housekeeping and material handling are also key components of this position.

**As a member of our team, your responsibilities include**:

- Comply with all applicable health and safety principles, procedures, policies and company safety program.
- Use of overhead crane to move material.
- Clean up the shop and yard from hazardous or obsolete material.
- Operate various equipment as described in company procedures.
- Use of magnetic drill, hand tools, electric and pneumatic tools.
- Complete daily tasks as directed by the Production Superintendent.

**Qualifications**:

- Two to three years related experience and/or training in a similar position in the manufacturing industry.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Valid Overhead Crane ticket is considered an asset.
- Proficient English speaking, reading and writing skills.
- Work well independently, with mínimal supervision.
- Good physical condition.
- Punctuality, maturity, reliability, and strong work ethic.

Additional Information
**Physical Demands**:
The ability to stand continuously is essential, with frequent walking and occasional sitting. The nature of the position will require the employee to perform a wide range of physical activities ranging from pushing and pulling, lifting and carrying heavy objects, to climbing, crouching, kneeling, bending and handling. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.

**Work Environment**:
Working safely is a condition of employment at Canam. Constant exposure to a steel fabrication environment and regular exposure to weather conditions, excessive noise levels and vibrations. Often works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to fumes and airborne particles. Occasionally works in high, precarious positions. Potential burn hazards such as: UV light radiation, open flames, sparks and other sources. Noise levels in the work environment will require the use of appropriate hearing protection. The correct usage of PPE will be required at all times. This is a safety-sensitive position. A safety-sensitive position has been defined as one where the employee’s responsibilities impact the health and safety of themselves, coworkers and / or the public (in this case the end-user of our product).
