Founded in 1964, Innis College serves as both an academic and social community for undergraduate students within the Faculty of Arts & Science at the University of Toronto. The Registrar’s Office at Innis College aims always to be a reliable first point of contact for students, providing accurate information and sound advising on academic and related issues in an atmosphere of trust, confidentiality and comfort for a diverse student body of a little over 2,000 undergraduate students. The staff of the office work cooperatively to solve student issues, improve student retention, encourage academic success, promote personal development, and support student mental wellness.

Under general direction of the Assistant Principal (Students) & Registrar, the Associate Registrar - Academic Engagement is responsible for providing ongoing guidance to students with serious interpersonal problems and difficult or complex issues. The Associate Registrar - Academic Engagement maximizes access to registrarial information, guidelines, practices and policies pertinent to A&S students in order to address the needs of students, answer questions, solve problems, reconcile data errors, help prospective, future and current students discover opportunities to excel, and provide students a sense of belonging to a supportive academic community at Innis and in Arts & Science.

The Associate Registrar - Academic Engagement also develops and implements plans to enhance student engagement in their undergraduate experience, particularly by promote programming and resources for students looking for academic motivation, learning support, research and experiential learning, and work-integrated learning. To this end, the Associate Registrar - Academic Engagement advises and coaches students on the selection of appropriate work-integrated learning opportunities, delivers presentations on academic support and experiential learning, fosters a culture of academic engagement, and maintains networks to build capacity and collaboration with campus partners involved in motivating students to thrive during their undergraduate academic learning experience.

The Associate Registrar - Academic Engagement models an impressive ability to interact effectively with people of different cultures, backgrounds and orientation and in a way that is responsive to diverse language and linguistic needs and respectful of health beliefs and practices.

**Your responsibilities will include**:

- Providing ongoing guidance to students with serious interpersonal problems and difficult or complex issues
- Advising students on program and/or course requirements by probing and providing a range of options and possible consequences
- Advising on the appropriateness, precedents and process for petitions and appeals, and suggesting alternative course of action as necessary
- Developing and implementing plans to enhance student engagement activities
- Advising students through their own process of career development by providing options and consequences incorporating personal circumstances impacting academic success and an understanding of an individual's background
- Promoting experiential learning opportunities; Advising and coaching students on the selection of appropriate work-integrated learning opportunities
- Fostering and maintaining networks to build capacity and collaboration
- Tracking service metrics to inform continuous service improvements

**Essential Qualifications**:

- Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- Minimum five years of recent and related experience providing student and administrative support in an academic advising office
