**About Us**:
The Nova Scotia Courts consist of the Court of Appeal, the Supreme Court (General and Family Divisions), and the Provincial Court, each led by a Chief Justice or Chief Judge and Associate Chiefs. The Judiciary provides impartial adjudication of disputes between individuals, between the state and the individual, and between different levels of government within the state.

The Executive Office of the Nova Scotia Judiciary is an independent body that provides planning, policy and communications support for the Council of Nova Scotia Chiefs and the almost 100 Judges of the Nova Scotia Courts. The Executive Office staff members represent the Judiciary when working with other justice system organizations across the province and Canada on initiatives aimed at improving access to and the administration of justice.

**About Our Opportunity**:
Under the general direction of the Council of Nova Scotia Chiefs and reporting to the Director of Operations of the Executive Office of the Judiciary, the Director of Strategic Communications is responsible for the direction, planning, development, implementation and evaluation of strategic communications and special projects that enhance public understanding and confidence in the Judiciary and the Courts, and help to uphold the open courts principle.

**Primary Accountabilities**:

This work includes crisis communications, media monitoring, and direct engagement with media outlets to address incorrect or misleading information about the Judiciary and the Courts.

- Serves as a spokesperson for the Nova Scotia Judiciary on special projects and issues in the Courts and justice system, where appropriate.
- Develops and maintains content on the Courts of Nova Scotia website, including news articles, resources for students, media, and self-represented individuals, and notices to the legal profession.
- Creates social media content, manages the Courts’ presence on social media platforms, evaluates impact, and provides advice to the Judiciary on social media trends.
- Directs and/or coordinates special projects and major events of interest to the public and the legal and education communities, including Justice Days Camps, annual Law Day and Take Your Kids to Work events, courthouse tours, and conferences.
- Researches issues and collaborates with national and provincial bodies, senior government officials, and communications professionals locally and across the country.
