**The Opportunity**:
Reporting to the Director of Labour Relations, in this newly-created role, you will be the Human Resources Department’s key Labour Relations Specialist instrumental in supporting Postmedia’s ongoing transformation. A highly skilled negotiator who believes in collaborating for results, you are responsible for guiding leaders and managers at all levels on navigating all aspects of labour relations while acting as the central resource for the Human Resources team.
Your deep experience in managing everything from negotiations, to investigations and grievances through to collective agreement administration will quickly identify you to the team as a key resource to access on all labour relations matters.

**What you’ll do**:

- Collaborate with business leaders on bargaining mandate development that aligns to the business and transformation strategies;
- Foster on-going communication and collaborative working relationships with unions to effect transformation in the organization;
- Participate with the Director, Labour Relations in complex contract negotiations with unions;
- Lead contract negotiations where required, collaborating with local management;
- Advise and coach managers on sensitive labour and employee relations matters, including corporate policies, workforce planning and reduction, performance management, disciplinary action, and grievance and arbitration procedures;
- Partner with leaders, unions and bargaining unit members to resolve issues and align business needs and collective agreement requirements;
- Administer and manage collective agreements, act as internal expert on interpretation of collective agreement language; oversee review and resolution of grievances, set bargaining timetable;
- Coach and advise Human Resources department management team on labour relations issues, collective agreement interpretations, policy development and employee relations practices;
- Support the HR Corporate Team on special projects as well as the implementation of new policies and programs.

**Who you are**:

- 5+ years of progressive experience in labour relations, including contract administration and collective bargaining;
- Demonstrated experience in grievance resolution and collective bargaining;
- University degree in Human Resources, Labour Relations, or a related discipline; CHRP designation preferred, MIR would be a definite asset;
- Skilled, seasoned negotiator with strong diplomatic skills and demonstrated ability to effect change and remain calm under pressure;
- Proactive communicator and change agent, who successfully balances employee needs with business objectives to create integrated solutions;
- Demonstrated leadership ability and initiative to manage projects independently;
- Full working knowledge of all provincial Canadian employment legislation;
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work well within a team environment;
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment;
- Experience working and supporting teams remotely;
- Aptitude for critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision making;
- Comfortable with ambiguity and making decisions without an obvious answer or perfect solution;
- Approachable, composed and tactful in dealing with disciplinary and grievance issues;
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office Suite is required, experience with Dayforce HRIS an asset.
- Bilingualism in English/French an asset.
