**About us**:
Learning Space Management (LSM) has a focus on learning space excellence with the mandate of stewardship of the University’s classrooms and testing space, encompassing all aspects including the delivery of academic activities through academic scheduling, classroom design & development, instructional technology and accommodated testing. This holistic perspective allows each member of the team to work together, share experiences and better understand how their decisions and deliverables impact other team members and results. In this way, we can better leverage opportunities and synergies amongst the team as well as with our broader University partners to better serve instructors and students in support of the University’s teaching mission.

**Your responsibilities will include**:

- Works with the Director, LSM to create, implement, and evaluate a strategic classroom technology plan which aligns with the strategic direction for university classroom community. This plan forecasts any major purchases, upgrades, and expansions, as well as renewal and evergreening to ensure that the classroom technology is kept current and up to date.
- Understands business solutions and improves the overall computing environment for classroom technology through the evaluation and integration of new technology and practices, while identifying areas for generating efficiencies and providing solutions for improvement. Investigates, evaluates, and recommends new technologies in collaboration with campus partners (e.g. software, hardware).
- Ensures that an effective business continuity plan exists and is tested periodically. Monitors current and emerging security threats and develops appropriate responses; Develops contingency plans for resources, delivery of services, and technologies in the event of a campus closure, labour disruption, and/or special event.
- Educates and guides faculty and staff on the use of classroom technology and service policies and procedures based on knowledge of university level policies and procedures; Develops guidelines and procedures to assist faculty and staff in the successful performance of their responsibilities, in consultation with senior management.
- Manages the day-to-day classroom technology support operations.
- Working under the direction of the Director, LSM, discusses and recommends classroom configurations and technology requirements with academic divisions to ensure that instructional needs are met.
- Working with the Assistant Director, Finance & Administration, develops the annual classroom technology unit budget based on planned priorities, emerging opportunities, equipment life-cycle requirements, and knowledge of department’s priorities.
- Monitors unit’s operating expenses to determine if work processes or resource allocations need to be modified to meet budget, including possible budget cuts and staffing changes.
- Full managerial authority over the staff in the Classroom Planning & Technology Support Group.

**Qualification Requirement**:
**Education**:
University degree in computer science, education, or information technology or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

**Experience**:
A minimum of five (5) years of progressive responsibility working in the field of classroom technology, educational technology, information systems and technology, with demonstrated technical knowledge/skills in a wide range of technology environments, preferably in a university environment. Experience administering an enterprise network environment is required. Experience in policy formulation, project management, network systems, web-enabled database systems, management of daily operations, end user support, disaster recovery, and staff IT training. Knowledge of academic environment and policies and procedures related to classroom technology, educational technology, IT management, privacy legislation, and confidentiality. Minimum of five (5) years of management experience in a unionized environment.

**Skills**:
Sound knowledge of a variety of classroom technology hardware and software including digital display technology, standard operating systems, Microsoft products, control systems such as Crestron products, SMS, IIS servers. Must understand network integration and software development lifecycle. Thorough understanding of data exchange and database management in a multi-database environment is required. Demonstrated leadership and strategic planning skills; excellent oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal and customer service skills; excellent organizational and diagnostic/analytical skills; excellent negotiation and relationship management skills, excellent planning and project management skills, must be a strategic thinker; and able to lead a
