The Manager Freighter Operations, Cargo will be responsible for managing all facets of the freighter program at the Toronto (YYZ) Cargo Terminal, while working alongside his/her team of COM's including a COM located at STOC.

They will be in charge of implementing and adjusting the day of plan set forth by the General Manager, Cargo Operations to ensure operational integrity and achieve operational targets and measures, and work in alignment and collaboratively with the Manager, Cargo Operations.

Will develop and evolve the freighter program, ensuring compliance to safety, regulatory and performance mandates.

They will also be responsible for identifying and implementing continuous improvement initiatives as they pertain to the customer. Facilitates and interacts with internal and external customers pertaining to freighter requirements in Toronto, as well as supporting branches such as Airports, GSE, SOC, STOC and CRE.

**Key Functions & Accountabilities**

- Develop solid relationships with all station departments and work collectively to achieve station objectives.
- Drive front line employees to consistently deliver good management of cargo operations and work towards station and company KPI (Key Profit Indicators) such as but not limited to;
- Safety compliance
- Procedural integrity
- OTP (on time performance)
- C2K
- Anticipate, identify, and resolve service and operational problems.
- Work in collaboration with the General Manager, Cargo Operations, while providing them with information, continuous updates on operational demands
- Contributes to the development and implementation of medium and long term hub strategies as they relate to the freighters ,ensuring alignment with YYZ Cargo and with the Branch
- Anticipate, identify, and resolve service and operational challenges
- Establish and enforce clear performance expectations and accountability for their team
- Ensure timely communication of operational issues to all stakeholders including but not limited to GM -Cargo Operations, Customer Experience Team, Engineering Team, Business Development team and CNC
- Manage processes to encourage and obtain ongoing feedback from employees to identify concerns.
- Effectively liaise /cooperate with other departments / suppliers on an ongoing basis to meet service and operational requirements.
- Responsible for overall service levels and customer experience
- Be proactive in supporting succession planning and management development
- Promote and manage a corporate culture of accountability and ownership
- Participate in the development and enhancement of corporate and station initiatives
- Implement and direct the strategic vision to drive improved results
- Ensure the alignment of corporate and branch goals
- Provide the necessary resources, tools, equipment and communication strategies to optimize customer service and operational performance
- Foster an effective business relationship with external service providers and agencies such as Transport Canada, CBSA and the GTAA
- Analyze trends and statistics for performance efficiencies and effectiveness
- Drive accountability for revenue enhancement and cost containment
- Be recognized as a role model for leadership excellence
- Influence and maintain cooperative working relationships with Airports and GSE departments

**Engagement**:

- Participate in ongoing employee communication sessions and daily Leads/Staff meetings
- Foster and maintain relationships with IAM representatives and leadership
- Communicate with staff on a regular basis to keep them up-to-date and knowledgeable of new products, performance (service and operational) issues and branch objectives.
- Provide leadership to Cargo staff to ensure the implementation, maintenance and improvement of procedures and processes to achieve or exceed customer service level and performance standards.
- Recognize and acknowledge employees who consistently deliver service excellence and as well as hold employees accountable for performance failures.

**Safety**:

- Ensure safety standards are consistently maintained and S.O.P. compliance is adhered to
- Compliance with standards of IOSA, SMS and other applicable authorities. Assure the good management of the cargo operations.
- Ensure audit expectations of your COM team are being met and that intervention is ongoing and consistent
- Ensures that direct reports and front-line employee adherence to the Station Safety Plan
- Investigate all aircraft/vehicle accidents providing details, root cause, and correctives measures to events or deviations.
