**SUMMARY**:
Under the direction of the Coordinator, Transition Programs, the Orientation Campus Captain will assist with promotion, recruitment, hiring, team-building and training of Orientation volunteers. Additionally, the Campus Captain will assist the Coordinator with the planning of programming such as new student orientation, family orientation,
volunteer training, KPU Welcomes U.and other related initiatives at KPU. The
knowledge of KPU and KSA services, and exceptional leadership and group facilitation
skills. The Campus Captain must have full availability on Orientation training and event
days. Travel between the Langley, Richmond and Surrey campuses is required.

**PRINCIPAL DUTIES**:

- Provide support to the Orientation Coordinator in the planning, implementation and evaluation of student orientation-related activities and events at KPU;
- Assist the Orientation Coordinator with the recruitment and coordination of student volunteers;
- Represent the Orientation Team on social media and at campus-wide events such as Open House and Welcome Week;
- Liaise with department staff, relevant departments, and student volunteers;
- Other duties as required

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- Previous experience as a KPU Orientation Leader or Orientation Event Support Volunteer
- Strong understanding of the new student experience and value of orientation programming
- Knowledge of KPU and KSA resources for students
- Demonstrated experience and comfort with public speaking
- Charismatic and approachable personality
- Demonstrated leadership qualities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience using various forms of social media
- Experience in event planning is an asset
- Ability to travel between campuses
