The Dean of the Faculty of Education and Health, will play a key role in executing Laurentian University’s
operational transformation plan, and the development and implementation of its next Strategic Plan which will
support and guide future growth of the Faculty and institution. The Dean provides leadership in advancing
academic and research excellence within the Faculty and supporting the University’s Research and Academic
plans. Reporting to the Provost and Vice President Academic, the Dean will foster strong relationships with
faculty members and Directors and will work collaboratively with stakeholder groups including governance
bodies, accreditation bodies, fellow Deans, senior administration, student associations, unions, and external
partners. In collaboration with the Advancement Office, the Dean will actively engage with alumni and friends
of the University to help raise funds to support priority initiatives for the Faculty and University.

institutional and Faculty goals. They will lead and unify the Faculty with a vision and administrative focus and
support excellence in education, research and innovation. They will have experience with fostering a culture of
respect and collegiality. They will have knowledge of and may have experience working in northern
communities, with Indigenous communities, and with Francophone communities in a minority setting. They
will have a Ph.D in a relevant discipline, a proven record of leadership and extensive academic administrative
experience with particular emphasis on academic planning, curriculum development, the student experience,
and faculty development. The position requires excellent communication skills in English and French..
Knowledge and recognition of the importance of integrating the Anishinaabe language is an asset.

The Faculty of Education and Health includes the following Schools: School of Education, School of
Indigenous Relations, School of Kinesiology and Health Sciences, School of Nursing, École d'Orthophonie, and
the School of Social Work contributing to its strong interdisciplinary and interprofessional focus. The Faculty is
one of Laurentian’s largest, with 36 programs at undergraduate and graduate levels, 75 faculty members
(including tenure track/tenured faculty and limited term appointments), 22 staff and over 3,100 undergraduate
and graduate students. The Faculty is affiliated with several research centres including the Centre for Research
in Occupational Safety and Health (CROSH), Centre for Rural and Northern Health (CRaNHR), Evaluating
Children’s Health Outcomes Research Centre (ECHO), Maamwizing Indigenous Research Institute and others.
